i remember a while back this was plagued with issues and it was best to skip online check in, is that still the case? Not sure what the pro/cons currently are.
Thanks!!

Never had a problem with it from day 1. Got my room text when my plane landed every time. No complaints here.

Ok thanks! I can't even remember what the issues were in the past. The text gave you your room number and longhouse?

Just an FYI. Doing Online Check In does not guarantee you'll be able to Bypass The Front Desk.
Ok I will keep
That in mind, I don't care if I need to, last time I needed to get a new room location so I had to go to the desk anyway.

In 2014 I was very glad I did online Check in. I accidentally forgot my credit card and bank card at home. I realized it when I was in the plane. Luckily I had done online check in and my credit card was linked to my account as I'm from Canada so wouldn't have even been able to find a bank to help.

I was able to spend 2 weeks at wilderness lodge with only $200 cash on me thanks to online check in.

Our rooms were ready very early in the day both times we used online checkin-in. They ask for your expected arrival time during the online checkin process. It could possibly help getting your room ready for your arrival time.

Worked great for us last week and we even got our room requests! I did end up going to the front desk well after we were settled into our room on our first day to pick up our HDDR tickets, get a birthday button for DS and make a room request for our inlaws that were arriving later in the week.

What room requests did you ask for....if you don't mind sharing.

I was always against online check-in, for years and I always liked checking in the normal way upon arrival. But I finally tried it in November 2015 and will use it from now on. With an earlyish arrival - 10:30am, I got all my requests, and got the text that my room was ready while waiting in line at DME and was able to go straight to my room. Hoping for the same luck this year when we go in September. Have a 6am flight this trip, so we will be arriving at MCO at 8am. We'll see how it goes.

How far out did you guys do online check-in and received your requests.....

I did mine after the 60 day mark because I was contemplating it. Maybe a month before? Not sure what you mean when you say "received your requests" - I made the requests during online check-in, also on Touring Plans and my TA made a note of my requests on my reservation. I knew I received my requests when I got my room number texted to me and noticed I got the room I requested on TP's and the location requests through online check-in.

You can do Online Check In at 60 days out. When, or even if, you do Online Check In has zero affect on whether you get your requests granted or not.

I think the part I can't ever wrap my head around, when this subject comes up, why do folks think if they do online check in they can't also go to the front desk when they get to their hotel?
Nothing stops you from completing online check in so your card is on file and they know the time you plan to arrive, and any room requests you may make and also going to the front desk when you arrive to just say hey, confirm it all, or whatever you want.
We do 90% of our trips. I like the one on one experience of conversing with the front desk but I also like that they know when I'm coming, etc.
There are numerous reasons to do online check in and I'm unable to come up with a single reason not to

Last time we did online check-in, we put our estimated arrival time as 9am. Right around 9am, we received a text that our room wasn't quite ready yet. It ended up being ready around 11 or 11:30am I think. It was nice to know it wasn't ready yet, so instead of going to the resort, we went straight to Disney Springs.

We refused to do online check in for years, but I finally did it in January. I found it very easy and had no trouble with anything. I did end up going to the front desk for both times I did online as I hadn't received a text, but they got me right into a room and met my requests. Granted I don't load up on requests and only have 1 most times. Have a great trip!

I don't know that there are any cons, but we haven't found it any faster than regular check-in. We've never received a text that a room was available even with our most recent trip and a pretty late check-in. But the last few trips we had some issues with our MBs anyhow or needed to ask for a room change when we didn't get our requests so it would have required a stop at the desk anyhow.
