Online Check in ?'s

I just did our online check in and room requests. When do we find out what room we have? will it be the day of? Do they send a text and we just go to the room? how does it work?

If you chose the 'text me when my room is ready' option, they will text you on your arrival day and give you the room number then. We have always gotten the text when we get off the airplane and turn our phones back on, but that's not guaranteed.

They *MIGHT* text you your room number. I have yet to get a text, even when MDE clearly showed my room was assigned and available. And even when my room isn't ready yet and they "will text me when it is"? Never gotten one. And yes, they have my cell number in correctly - once I even put it in for them!

Yes, they send a text and then you just go to your room whenever you want. There's no need to go directly to your room. Your Magic Bands are your room keys. We have always gotten our text while on the DME bus from the airport.

I have not received a text in the last 3 online check ins. I just go to the online check in desk when I arrive and the rooms have always been ready (all before official check in time of 4?).

Some people do and some don't. Nobody knows how they decide who gets to Bypass The Front Desk and who doesn't. I think they use the same algorithm used to determine who gets PIN Codes and who doesn't.

We didn't get the text in 2015 but we did in 2016. I had 4 reservations in 2016 for the same trip and received a text for each one. We received the first one when we landed, around 11:00 am. I don't know why I didn't get them before, same phone number and online check in both times. I wasn't expecting them in 2016, especially the week of Thanksgiving, but it was a nice surprise.
