Does anyone have an info re: fulfilling room requests (ie needing ground floor, close to bus etc), is there a better chance when you do online check in, or regular check-in ??

thanks!!

Indicating these requests during online check-in is just as good as having the request already attached to your reservation from when you booked. It is a request only and is just as likely to be met regardless of how the request gets there. If it's something that you really want then I would make sure to at least have the request on your reservation in some way rather than waiting until you get to the resort because if you wait until then, you're relying on luck followed by requesting a room change if you didn't get lucky. Even with doing online check-in you can still request a change (you may or may not get it subject to availability) but at least with the request attached you have a greater chance of the room assignment already being what you want when you get there.

If you have multiple requests, I suggest you call in advance so you can "prioritize" them. For example, you want first floor room near the bus. What may be available is first floor far from the bus, or second floor close to the bus. You'll need to decide what is most important if not all requests can be met, or WDW will randomly choose which one to give you. Also, keep in mind that some "requests" are actually bookable categories at certain resorts and unless you pay additional for that category you are not likely to have the request granted.

Enjoy your vacation!

I always ask for a ground floor room, since I hate dealing with elevators when I don't have to. I make the request when I make my reservation, and then again when I do online check-in, and then I mention it again when I arrive at the resort just in case.

I do try not to make any other requests, like a specific section or building, to make it as simple as possible for them to give me what I need.

I always reserve a room in the front when I stay at the ALL Stars or Pop. We pay extra for it but it assures I am near the main bldg. I also request a handicapped room and a refrigerator for medical reasons. Medical reasons have priority over regular requests.
