Anyone else having trouble with online check-in? I know I probably don't need to do online check in cause I'm arriving in the late evening of the 29th but I'm too excited to not check-in early. The system has been down for the past 2 days and it's Monday. It's Monday people!!!! Online check-in is supposed to help perk me up on a rainy Seattle Monday workday. :sad2:
 
Hope this doesn't ruin it even more for you but---I did online check-in this morning without any problem what-so-ever. Did you double check that all info was put in correct??? Just sayin'-sometimes the fingers typing get away from ya'!!!

Unless I messed up approximately 50 times in 3 different browsers at different times of the day and night from different computers which in my excited state is all together possible. The AKL itinerary person said that he's had a few people claim that the system has been down. I just want to get there early enough and get to the lounge to have a nightcap after having spent the entire day travelling with a 4 yr old and a 1 yr old..... With my luck I'll check in and the lounge will have closed 5 minutes prior.

We are staying at AKL too. I wonder if its resort related?

It sounds like you are staying club level. If that's the case, you should be escorted tothe lounge/ceck-in area upon arrival. If the lounge is still open, then you will be able to get something.

In that sense, it shouldn't really matter if you do online check-in.

If you are talking about the main resort lounge, then you also should be able to get a drink before checking-in, since the check-in staff would be available 24 hours. Hope that makes sense.

Beyond that, I've done CL both ways (Online and regular check-in) in the last year. I haven't found a clear cut advantage to doing online check-in if you are staying club level. Either way, you have to meet with a staff member at check-in. The information you provide online is pretty limited, and only slightly expedites the process, if at all. As far as I can tell, they basically confirm the information with you regardless, so the time difference is minimal. Perhaps I should clarify, I've only done CL at AKL once - the other CL stays were at different resorts.

The real benefit of online check-in is to bypass the main lobby chek-in line, not the check-in process itself. Even there, at most resorts, at most times of day the difference is minimal, and I say this as someone who dislikes wasting time on vacation. The "online check-in line' is generally very short, but most regular check-in lines are not very long either - especially if you are arriving late.

I wouldn't worry about it at all. I would not bother trying more than once a day, if that, over the ten available days you get. If it doesn't work, don't give it a second thought.
 
Ok, after calling "Online check-in technical support" again today for the 4th time and being told once again that it was down for system maintenance, I found the resolution. Apparently my reservation would not pull up for online check in because we do not have DME linked for the return trip. We will be checking out of one resort and checking into another, then DME to the airport. This seems to cause a problem with online check in. SO......I contacted a different technical support # Technical Support Desk
(407) 939-7765, press 2, and they knew exactly what was going on and wondered why anyone was telling me that it was down for maintenance. I would suggest completely bypassing the online technical support # and calling the people who actually know whats going on and want to help.
 
If you are checking into a resort only (not a package or anything like that), use www.mydisneyreservation.com and click on "group or conference." (even if you're neither).

That's the advice I was given when I called technical support. Did it and it worked.
 
SSR: I've tried to check in online since 10 days out haha and just tried it the way you said but still get the "sorry-unavailable-try later". Leaving tomorrow so give up on it ;-)

I just did check in that way one time, I rather check in when I get there that way I can see on the map where my room is going to be, WL last yr stuck me in a horrible room and I paid for CY. Turst me, don't be upset check in the regular way isnt that bad at all :santa:

Agreed. This time of year, there's really nothing too advantageous about online check-in except a small amount of peace of mind and a theoretical time advantage.
