Online check in before booking excursions?

Since we’re using Disney transfers getting an early PAT doesn’t really matter. Do we have to do the entire check in before booking excursions or can we book and then do check in?

Excursions are booked 90, 105, etc. days out after PIF. The only thing that also happens at 30 days is Princess gathering or some other gatherings (e.g., for MDAS). That is always 30 days regardless of level.

As PP mentions booking port adventures, online dining, etc. is at a different date from online check-in.

Online check-in is now staggered by CC level. It starts at 40 days out for Pearl, 38 for Platinum, 35 for Gold, 33 for Silver and 30 for new cruisers. The only other activity opening at this time is the free-ticketed Royal Gathering, which opens at 30 days for everyone.

To answer my own question then. No, we don't have to complete checkin before booking excursions.

When the excursion window opens based on our castaway status, we can book our reservations. Our online check in, is a different schedule, but also tied to our castaway status. For us... with 9 cruises - we're gold. So we can book excursions at 105 days out and will check in 35 days out.
