Online check in at YC and what requests to make?

Hi,

We are staying at YC next week (!!!), May 9-14. Our flight is early, and so we arrive at MCO at 9:53 a.m. Am hoping that means we will be at YC by 11:30 or so, likely before our room is ready. It's been 5 years since we've been to WDW, so haven't used magic bands or online check in before. Should we do the online check in through MDE? Should we do it now? (I assume we will need to leave our carry ons with someone at YC while we head to a park, before the room is ready.)

Do we then need to do anything with our magic bands when we arrive to link them up? (We booked a package through WDW, so room and tickets are connected.)

Also - where do you like to stay at YC? What requests should we make?? We've never been to any of the Epcot area resorts before, so the whole experience will be new to us. I can't even think of what we would like or not like regarding room location, so I'm curious as to what others like. We are 2 adults and 3 kids ages 10-14. We're really excited about walking to HS and EP, and about the pool. We have a garden/woods view room, fyi. Do all the rooms have balconies?

Have fun, perhaps see about a room close to the elevators near the Market at Ale and Compass.

We were pretty close to it in Feb 2018, which made running downstairs very very convenient. Also, if you can score that, it gets you close to the exterior doors that leads to the Friendship Boat dock.

We had a standard view room booked, but we were upgraded to Lagoon View since our first room was horribly filthy, so that was nice.

If our do online check in, you will get a text win your room number when it is ready. Then you can go directly to our room & not need to go to the front desk at all if you don’t want to. There is no need to do anything to your magic bands after arrival, unless you experience a problem with them. They are already linked to your MDE account, so that means they are already linked to your tickets, fastpasses & will open your room when it is ready.

Many people like the wedding gazebo view at YC. This is on the back side of the resort & you can often see some of the lake too. You would have to call & add that request tho. It is not one of the options during online check in. The first floor rooms have patios, the other flora have balconies. Almost every room at he YC has either a patio or full balcony. There are only a very few rooms without a balcony.

Here are basically 2 main exits, big from the lobby. One goes out to the front of the resort to the bus stop. The other goes out the back to the boat dock or walkways to Epcot, Disney Studios & other resorts. The pool is out the back door also. Close to the lobby also puts you close to these exits, although you very well may need to use the elevator anyway.

Have you checked out the Y & B thread? It can seem overwhelming, but Dee keeps page 1 very up to date & it is exceptionally well organized. If nothing else, you might want to rad page 1 of that thread for a little orientation.

Same thing happened to us on the last two trips I think I'll just stop by the front desk before we head to our room from now on.

We stayed at YC in March and the only request I made was "quiet room". We were placed on a higher floor just down the hall a bit from the elevator. It was awesome. Quiet, but still close enough to the elevator that we were close to everything!
