Online Booking Pop Century King Bed need help

Ok I'm trying to book online this evening for my trip and since its just two of us I would enjoy just having a King Bed. This option is no where to be found online so do I need to call or will Disney automatically give couples the one bed and a family of 3 or 4 two beds???

No, they don't automatically give couples a king bed.

There aren't a lot of king beds at the value resorts. Sometimes I am assigned one when I check in. I'd note that every king room I've ever been assigned at a value has also been a handicapped accessible room. The closet area is smaller and there is no bathtub, just a walk-in shower. I am not certain that all king bed rooms at a value are handicapped accessible, but it's something you may want to think about. I don't think you can request a handicapped accessible room ahead of time unless you have a need for it. That is one of the reasons you may need to call and ask.

Someone can correct me on this but I am PRETTY sure that all of the king beds at teh value resorts are handicap acessible.
You cant reserve a king bed at the values but you can REQUEST one. note that this is only a request though. Not guaranteed. If they are all handicap accesible, than they will go to the people who need them first adn you might be able to get one if there are any left.

So two answer your question...No they do not automatically give couples a king bed and families two beds.

Surprisingly, NOT all the king-bed rooms at Pop Century are handicapped-accessible! I always request a king when I stay there, because it's difficult for a solo traveler to get an ECV in and out of the double-bed rooms. Every time, I've been assigned to one of the regular rooms with the one bed!

There aren't a lot of rooms, period, with king beds - maybe 156 or so, total (I've calculated it before, using the building layout map that used to be in the Pop FAQ on the Resorts board), with the larger percentage being in accessible rooms. Sounds like a lot, until you remember that Pop has almost three thousand rooms!

I've found if I am traveling alone I get a king bed more often. It happened on my last trips to Paradise Pier and Grand Californian at Disneyland. Neither was HA. I think they save the 2 queens for families.

We have stayed at POP 3 times, each time requested a king bed. The first time we got a K-handicap. We were surprised they would put us in a H room- the next 2 times we were told we could NOT have a K room as they are all H rooms. We were disapointed not to have the K room, wish they also offered Q rooms, those dbl beds are sooo small!
Oddly, once when we stayed at POFQ we were also given a H room when we requested a K- we were told that was all they had left (we checked in at 12:30am) .
We love the Kbed but would prefer not to have the H room to get it.

DD and I have stayed at POP three times and have had a king bed each time, without request...and I don't think the rooms were handicapped-accessible, as the bathrooms had a regular tub/shower and were positively tiny!

When I brought my mom and brother to Disney for a few days, I requested a handicap room for my brother. Well the girl at check in was new or a new CP, but didn't really relay the info correctly to us. So when I got to the room, it was 2 beds, but no roll in shower.
I went back up to the front desk and the next girl was able to explain what happened. The handicap room that was available only had a king bed, so they gave us the adjoining room for free to accomadate 4 adults. Which made the whole thing 10 times better.

I want to say I've seen the option though to change to a king bed room on the booking page. Of course that might've been for a deluxe resort in which case they charge you more for it. Come on, the cleaning person only has to change one bed, not two. It should be cheaper.

I have gotten a King bed twice while staying at Pop Century. Both were solo trips and I just called up, requested it, and they had it for me when I checked in. I had no issues either time. Neither of those rooms were HA.

The one time I stayed at All-Star Sports for 1 night, they assigned me a King bed room when I had 3 people on the reservation. The CM at check-in realized the mistake and switched the room to the 2 double beds for us, but I thought that was odd. Obviously 3 people are not going to want a bed with just a King bed.

Thanks for all the info gang. One thing I don't want to do is take up a handicapped specific room when we are not. Either way not a biggie...we didn't have the choice at CR two years ago and the beds weren't that bad.

DH and I have stayed at value resorts three times. I always requested a king bed and have never gotten one. Our next trip is in April and this is the first time I booked the room on-line. Because there was no opportunity to add requests, I will be calling to have them added to my reservation.

I just booked a solo trip to PC via Expedia and according to my confirmation I'm in a room with a King bed, I'm not going to worry about it if I end up with two doubles, I'm more concerned about a quiet location away from the pools.

We just had a one night stay at Pop and I booked through Expedia UK (cheaper than US version) and requested a king bed. I also called the number listed for Pop (which is really just a call center) to request a king bed. At first, the CM insisted a king room is a booking category at Pop and I told her multiple times that wasn't not the case (yes, it is at some mods and deluxes). She finally transferred me to someone else and he put in our request. Anyway, we were given a king bed at check-in and it was not a HA room.

DH and I stayed at POP in January 2013. We requested, and were given, a king bed room (in the 50's section, the room number was 2222). It was NOT handicap accessible.

It's not a bookable category, it's just a request that can be made and may or may not be granted at check-in.
