Hi - the bottom of this email from DVC says that online booking is starting on Jan 19th. I didn't realize it was starting so soon.

2013 Vacation Point Charts now available online

Disney Vacation Club® is pleased to announce that 2013 Vacation Point Charts are now available online to help spark your imagination as you dream up next year's vacations.

As you plan your travels, please note that Disney Vacation Club has adjusted the 2013 Vacation Point Charts for Bay Lake Tower at Disney's Contemporary Resort and Disney's Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa.

The adjustments to the Bay Lake Tower chart stem from a scheduled reassignment of 10 rooms from Theme Park View to Standard View effective Jan. 1, 2013. This shift is based on Member and Guest feedback, and is designed to better reflect the rooms' views. At Disney's Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa, the Vacation Points required for Treehouse Villas are increasing based on high Member demand.

Increases and decreases within these two Resorts' charts keep the total number of Vacation Points for each Resort unchanged.

Printed charts will appear in a supplement to the annual Vacation Planner Reservation Tools book, scheduled to begin mailing early this spring. In the meantime, you may view the charts online at DVCMember.com. Simply click on the "View Vacation Points Charts" link in the "Plan My Vacation" section of the website.

Also remember that the new Disney Vacation Club Resort online booking tool is scheduled to debut on DVCMember.com on Jan. 19, further enhancing the magic of Membership!

I was told that it will open with limited functionally and they will take it off line if things start going wrong.

It will be interesting to see what it capabilities will be and what affect it will have on our dues.

I've been waiting to book our October trip so I can play with the online booking. I am just booking a SSR 1BR, so it will be worth the wait to see the new system.

I wonder what the limited functionality will be?

If it's the usual Disney internet team limited is defined as:

Completely broken for months.

Honestly, I'm hoping this works well. I am an internet person. I do everything I can on the web. I've also seen a marked decline in the service I get from MS when I call. The folks just don't seem to be as chipper as they were years ago.

I'm wondering why there are putting this out there right when the busy Christmas booking week will be happening :confused3

They've been working on the DVC component of Wishes (the CRO reservation system) for quite some time now. Since Wishes is already in use online and at the resorts and by MS, I can't imagine they'll have crazy amounts of trouble when they introduce the online booking.

It's a smart move to limit the activity on it daily to see how it responds to the demand and ramp it up slowly.

As long as they have the right tech people behind it, it should be fine, but if they use the guys we have in my building......god help us all!

I look forward to using it as member. That 9 am phone call thing for me will never work. I can't stop teaching my class at 9 to call and make reservations.

From what I heard, online booking will have the same hours as Member Services, so unless you have access to a computer to make your reservation online at 9 AM, there isn't much of a difference to how it is now for you.

Exactly, any other way would not be fair to those very hard to get bookings such as concierge, etc.

I do have internet access and could do it from work, maybe not exactly at 9, but it would make it MUCH more convenient. It would beat waiting till 1:00 to be able to make a phone call like my schedule right now. I'm an online person anyway, so the more I can do online the better.

My travel schedule is not usually the busy times so I'm not overly concerned. It's just more convenient for me this way.

My concern is for people who don't understand point rules. For example, people ask all the time if they have to borrow points to make a reservation now for their next use year. How lenient will they be for people who make mistakes.

I have to admit - the whole online reservation thing makes me nervous....I'm sure it'll have bugs that need to be worked out....

Those people, will need to continue to call MS. I would think anything done online would be final.

I can just hear it now. OH CRAP !! I MEANT TO USE MY BORROWED PTS FIRST:lmao: Let me try this again, OH CRAP NOW I JUST BOOKED MORE ROOMS THAN I NEED. Is there a delete button????:rotfl2: HONEY WHERE'S MY PHONE:lmao:

Sorry ,I just don't see it working as they hope. I hope it does because that leaves less people calling when I do.:goodvibes

I was told that even advisors can't "select" what points to use. The system automatically takes banked and borrowed points first, saving your allotted points for the use year for last. That way, you can bank them if you don't use them.
However you do have to specify which contracts and the order, if you're using more than one for a reservation.
