i do! nobody even wants space suits anymore! i remember when they were the rarest costume ever! there was a lot less dc'ing though, but the lines to a host game was still high, but nobody knew when they would pop up! when there was no HOST_ or QA_, just VMK_. there was a lot less ppl playing too.

EDIT ADD: and teleport WAS very rare and hard to get. now, it is very easy, and ppl don't really care about. i, myself have 4 teleport magics. ppl wouldn't even look at offers bc it was so hard to get! do you remember teh sorcerer hats? everybody called it blue ears, but we can't do that anymore bc of testers(i think that is where they got the idea ) . they were so rare ppl traded all they owned for it! ever since they re-released it at halloween, ppl don't even know it exists! back then you actually knew what rare was, and you probably never even got it, and that was what the fun was!

i remember when the rumors were spreading like crazy all day for a so called "parade" and them when time came all it was was a huge line of people walking down main street. also when 1000 people overloaded the server. that was why there was less dcing. I remember when people bragged cause they had hippos in their room (i was one of them lol) and whent he first time the Haunted Mansion room came out we were like "wow there's gonna be more rooms!?!?!" I also remember being one of the first people to play the Kelloggs pirate game and since I was one of the first, I traded the entire set for a whole bunch of really rare things lol.

Uh... it actually wasn't a year ago. It's been a year and a few months for me and for the rest of the Beta players as well. Beta opened for players to test VMK on May. 27th, 2005. It ended about a month later and VMK had launched. For some reason VMK did not celebrate that but they are now when it has been over it's official date from what information I have gathered.

Sorry Luke, but what Brain is saying DID occur a year ago.

How do I know? Because this time a year ago, I was out the door at
6:15am to stand in line for Disneyland to open for its 50th birthday.

Back then, I didn't know I should not only go to VMK Central to look for
new items to buy, but to create a character there to get the black ears.

When I got home from my wonderful trip, I noticed that I missed out on
the space suit, sorcerer ears, submarine pin and the Tomorrowland 8/9
pin.

I was able to trade gold ears for the sorcerer hat, and the space suit
and submarine pin were gifted to me. But the funniest was hanging out
for the first time in a staff room, as I had really never met staff before.
I didn't bother her, and the next thing I know, I checked my pins.

She gave me the Tomorrowland 8/9 pin, but she also surprised me with
the Flying Saucer pin....two weeks before it was sold. (People posted
my signature in screen shots to show what the pin looked like. LOL)

Since then, I've been bothering....uh...meeting various staff members.
I recently dubbed one male staff member "Gnarly Dude". He happened
to come into a room where we were playing with the swimsuit bug,
and it just seemed to fit. LOL!

Briefly during Beta, the staff were CM_. Since CM_ would be easily confused
with CL_ for Community Leaders, the staff titles were changed to VMK_.

Wow this is nostalgic. I didn't get into Vmk or so for another month after I joined and met Surferrat and all the people in the Surf Spot. I joined a year ago this week! Not sure when exactly but close enough. I had missed Beta by only 2 or 3 weeks if I am not mistaken. Too bad I guess. Wish I could time travel, and start earlier, and by a bunch of beta, and 100 green flips rofl.

oh! I remember the space suit weekend well! I was so poor and could not afford anything. Part of the reason I was so poor was becuase when we made our characters just a few weeks before the CM told us we wanted to do the Hidden mickey quest. I spent all my credits on that quest lol.
Anway those were the days. Just wish I had bought some green flips!

I remember seeing people with the space suits and wondering how they got so many credits. I am glad that I was able to get the sorcerer ears when they first came out. Those are my favorites.

I think the birthday celebration today has something to do with it being the one year anniversary of the 50th celebration. VMK was part of the 50th celebration. Just my 2 cents.

I remember when I first joined. It was about July 13th 2005. I remember the date because it was the day we got back from WDW last year with these weird cards that said "Gold Ears" and on the back it said to receive virtual prize, go to vmk.com.

So when I logged on, I went searching the rooms, and saw that the gold dress was being sold. I didn't know anything about rare stuff, or things only being on sale for a little while. I also didn't know how to get credits, so I didn't even think to buy the dress. Well, about two weeks later, I realized that the dress was no longer for sale and when I put up a Ned pin for a dress, people just laughed.


I can't believe how oblivious I was to all the stuff going on in VMK then.

Happy Birthday VMK, and thanks for a great year of new friends, games, mazes , quests, and especially those everlasting fun disconnections! Woot!

I've been with vmk since September of last year. I saved all of my hard earned credits for a headdress. I still have it too! I remember waiting for the haunted mansion game to open. It said "Coming Soon" on the bottom of the screen for a long time! Halloween in general was a hoot. Those pumpkins stayed around for months!
