Before you get into your gas powered car, ask yourself ~ is the trip worth it?

Well, if I'm driving somewhere, it's usually because I have something to do. :confused3

one more way to save Gas......

STAY HOME AND DIS MORE !!!!!!!!

In all seriousness, if you just slow down 10 MPH, you will save significantly too. We starting only driving the speed limit or lower this summer, and the last two weeks we have stayed below 60 MPH on the highway, and it is making a difference.

BTW, glad you wife put the kabash on the cuising. :rotfl:

I understand completly.

However, a lot of people just jump in the car to drive 1/4 mile to the grocery store and pick up one or two things and drive home. A lot of those people are very able to just walk the 1/4 mile and carry home the items. In doing so, they save the gas in the car and have a nice walk. Especially when it is a nice day in the northeast like today :sunny:

We also are doing more combination trips. We save errands and run them all at one time.

I actually skipped a couple of unneccesary trips this weekend, like driving 1/2 mile to the convenience to get a soda. I really didn't need the soda, and even if it would have only used 10 cents worth of gas each trip, it can add up after a while.

yep...for a while now...I've been doing all my errands on the way home from work...I pass the mall/grocery store/wal-mart. So If I need something, I'll stop and get it.

but no more 'random' trips out to "poke" like I used to.

Yup, we live 15 minutes from town (30 minutes of driving). Before gas prices got so high, I thought nothing of driving into town to pick up one or two items at the grocery. Last week, DH ran out of dental floss and (gasp!) had to wait two whole days until I needed to go to the store for other stuff too.

We also used the smaller (more fuel efficient) car to run our errands this weekend -- was a bit more of a squeeze for the kids but they survived.

Of course, DS starts preschool tomorrow so I'll be driving to town and back twice a day for three days each week. At least I can make sure to run my errands while I'm already in town.

omg I NEVER thought I would drive the speed limit :rotfl: but it does work.. I noticed the needle is staying near full and I got gas a week ago.. :cool1:

I too am saving trips.. coffee at D&D is on my way home from work...no more extra trips out.. :rotfl2:

I've skiped a couple of lunch time outings while at work last week due to gas prices. I've also found myself resenting any driving I have to do on someone elses request. I had to run one town over to my brother's house yesterday to pick up some things that, had my mother not insisted on taking, I would have had in my possesion already (long story).

Before all this I still didn't drive all that much, a tank lasts about a 7 days, so that's about 10 gallons per week. But now I'm hopeing to squeek out another day or two out of each tank if I can...

I have actually gotten off my pooh-sized butt and am taking DD to Kdg in the bike chariot. She is actually a bit tall for it, but it is ok for the short trip. We live less than a mile from school and I figure all the to and for adds up at the end of the week. Plus, it is good for me, but not my sore tush! :rotfl:

I am also watching the little trips out that could either wait until I need more items, be combined with other errands, or ordered off the internet.

The tough thing is that most of our driving miles are associated with our son who plays baseball. We are carpooling when possible with other families, but the practices and games are not close to home and he does have to go.

T&B

We just bought a brand new Honda Accord Hybrid last week...don't know how much it costs to fill it, because I haven't had to do it yet.

We're saving gas by taking our lawn mower on short trips. It's not a riding mower, so one of us has to sit on top while either my wife or or I will push it to our location.

That's funny!

I told DH we should get a goat to help with the lawn as gas is too expensive to use the lawn mower.
