Will need to purchase one way ticket for DS, since he can't seem to get enough time off from his job.:( Why are one way tickets so much more than the price of one leg? Can I buy him a round trip and not use the first leg? Would this be trouble in light of all that is happening ? TIA:)

Well, heres what you do. Make the first leg of his trip the leg that he'd use. So, if he'll do Orlando to your city, book a flight Orlando-your city-Orlando. And, just don't use the return flight to Orlando. :)

If you do purchase RT and only use part, make sure it is the first part. The airline will cancel any ticket that you do not show up for any leg of.

Normally, only discount airlines such as Southwest and Airtran sell one ways for roughly half the RT fare.

round trip guarantees them that you will be using that seat on the return. (supposed to anyways) this way they know of think they know that they will have a seat filled on the return too.

Thanks to all. I don't want to take a seat that I know we will not use. I will probably do the right thing and try for the least expensive one way. Thanks again for the info:)
