I've been looking for a thread regarding the new one-time-use vacations points at DVC, but haven't been able to find one yet. I just heard about it in an email from DVC. It sounds like a wonderful idea. You can purchase additional points from DVC for $15 each (maximum of 24 points per year). I hope they keep this perk around for a while.

When we bought our HHI ownership (also have VB and OKW), we bought only enuf points for 5 nights in a studio (M-F). When my daughter and her family started to join us at HHI, I decided to buy more points so that we could stay in a 2BR unit for 5 nights every other year. Last year when I bought the additional points, the cost for 5 nights in a two BR was 190. We had 65 points so I added another 35 (total of 200 in 2 years). I was recently checking the point schedule and found that it would now take 205 points for our 5 nights, leaving me short 5 points. I was very upset. That was the second change in points within 2 years. So that left me with banking 100 points, using the current 100 points, and either borrowing 5 points (which would leave us even shorter the next time we would go) or buying a Friday night at $350+.

This one-time-use points per year policy solves that problem -- for now anyway. I wonder if they got so many complaints about shifting the points around that DVC decided to come up with the new policy.

As the other posters have noted, there is an existing thread. Please continue the discussion there.

Thanks.
