Do any of you buy these regularly as a substitute for expanding your membership? It seems like it might not be the worst idea. Any tips/tricks for using these in a more efficient manner? Thanks!

I've done in once or twice over my nearly 30 years of ownership. Not really a great strategy as you are limited as to how many you can buy. They are really intended to be used when you are just shy a few points for your booking.

Since you can only buy them within 7 months, if you plan to need OTU points frequently it may make more sense to buy a low cost contract. Maybe even a small-ish Vero or HHI contract...yes dues are high, but cheaper than OTU points...

Only used them once…for a night this August because my niece had 10 expiring points that could not be transferred, and we bought the extra 5 needed for one night, so I got all my points back to use.

But, it certainly can be a nice way to occasionally supplement,

I have bought OTU points in 2021,2022 and 2023. Easy to buy and use.
I bought them at 7 months to add a few points to book an extra night each time.

To us, it is cheaper than buying another 25 point contract since we only use a few points each year for OTU.

Thanks for helping me brainstorm on this! I realized after posting that this would work well this year for my upcoming stays booked at seven months (I could purchase, exchange out a few points on my current reservation and push some points forward for the future) but will obviously only work for those times I book after seven months.
