One thread, 3 questions ;)

Don't forget you can eat at any of the other resorts too :D

Just to repeat what others have said - don't forget the many great restaurants in the other resorts and DON'T limit yourself to OKW because that's where you are staying. We have stayed at OKW on DDP and Olivia's although good was not among our real favourites compared with some of the other resort/hotel restaurants. Naturally you will want to take advantage of eating at the better park restaurants while you have your park tickets but don't limit your choice solely to park and OKW.

Absolutely. We didn't rate Olivia's at all. Loved 'Ohana and would like to eat at The GF Cafe too.

Starting to think that we could do Universal in two days if we stayed at RPR for one night with the FOLP. Also, Sea World in one day? The plan would be:

Arrive 12th August - chill and eat at DTD
13th August at RPR and Universal
14th August at Universal
15th August Sea World (or some time during the following two weeks)
16th August until 29th August at OKW/Disney

Think this might be the start of a plan...

Hi, We went for 18 nights last Aug, stayed at SSR first, then RPR for the last 5 nights. The pro's for doing it that way were - room rate cheaper at the end of Aug, could use all our remaining credits on the last day & take them with us to RPR (orange juice, energy drinks, beer, water, snacks, fruit, even sandwiches & cake to have the evening we arrived at RPR). We bought a cool box from the Heiss garage at DD, put a hole underneath in the middle, filled with ice & left in the bath. Saved us a small fortune. Due to the FOTL pass & the more relaxing feel at RPR we felt we had time to relax before coming home. They have a courtesy bus to SW too. 5 nights was too long for us but would definately do it this way again but for 3 nights.

Just thought I mention that our schools don't return until 7/9 in 2015, so the ideal year to go a little later.

That's a good idea too - the only thing making me hesitate to check out of OKW would be returning to the airport on the DME, and of course, packing/unpacking. Good idea about using all the spare credits.

Our schools haven't released the dates for 2015 yet but I can't imagine that we would go back as late as 7th Sept around here - we have never gone back that late before, but it would be brilliant if we did...

Yes, I was pretty surprised, last time it fell that we had 7 weeks off 3 days were taken off us but a few of us had already booked so it was honoured. Surprised that they are making the same mistake, although it will prob get changed before we can book this time.

We used to stay at the RPR for the 1 night (twice & once for 2 nights) & just leave our room empty that night. It worked out much cheaper as we didn't need to buy fast passes (that can only be used once per ride) or pay for 2 return taxi's. Can you have 5 in the room? we are a 3 & it still works out cheaper. For 5 it would be good value & you would still get your dining credits for that day.

To make your passes last longer you could maybe go to DD on arrival day, then get no 50 bus to SW for 2 days (tickets come with a free 2nd day).

I'm just wondering whether to have 3 days at Universal RPR and do Universal/Seaworld in those days and then check in at OKW. It depends on how much we enjoy Universal and whether that would be enough time for us.:confused3

We had 5 in a 1 bed at OKW last year and RPR sleeps 5 with a rollaway bed. Staying onsite at RPR seems like a no-brainer now as we would get FOLP for all of us. Can you remember how much the bus was to Sea World?:)

The bus goes to all 3 US resorts & is free. We didn't use it but when I looked into it I was told to book at the desk.

So you can get a free bus from Downtown Disney to Universal / Sea world? Wow, that's good. Back to the drawing board lol.

Sorry Jules, I didn't explain that very well. You can get a courtesy bus from RPR to SW & Wet & Wild if you stay there. You can get the Lynx No 50 to SW from DD, it's not expensive & children are free up to I think 10. (you would need to check this).
suggestion from OKW to SW - walk along the river & you come to the west side car park where the 50 stops.

Oh, I get it now lol.
The big decision for me is whether to stay onsite at OKW for the whole holiday or not. I think at least 1 or 2 nights at RPR would be sensible for the FOLP. The next decision would be whether to go from RPR to Sea World or from OKW to Sea World.

I have calculated that it will cost just short of £10k. :eek:One way doesn't seem any cheaper than the other.

You should definitely stay at RPR for a night as FOTL passes for 5 over 2 or 3 days would allow you to get everything done (you would get early entry too). I love being able to stroll to the parks from the hotel.
Going to RPR from the airport would cut your time down & it's pretty expensive to stay there & you'd need to get from the airport. It might be worth booking OKW for the entire holiday, going to SW on the first day (from DD), booking for 1 night RPR to do US/IOA. Then you'd have your Disney passes for the rest of the holiday. This way you'd have ME to & from the airport, full dining credits, be able to leave off using the Disney passes. But you would need a taxi to & from US.

If it was me I would book the whole time onsite at OKW with 21 day tickets.

Then one night book a Uni hotel for FOLP.

Do Seaworld as and when you felt like it. From OKW you can get the bus quite easy or hire a car - that really opens up a whole new world ;)

I can't stretch the finances to cover 21 days - I think 18 days would be the limit. I would be quite happy to go to RPR for 2 nights at the beginning (or end) and have a rest day before we activated the 14 day Ultimates. It's just figuring whether it would be cheaper to go to RPR when we arrive for 2/3 days and then move on to OKW.:confused3

Sorry stupid i phone....

Because! You will get FOL passes here for the busiest part of your stay and do the Disney part with reducing crowds.

Thanks :goodvibes Sounds like a good idea.

I meant get 21 day tickets to cover the 18 days. I didn't think that 21 days was much more than the 14 day tickets. Sorry not that clued up as we have APs.

I wouldn't do Uni first or last as you would waste a whole day of the FOLP travelling.

That's me personally - I would rather book one night in the middle and have Disney tickets to cover my whole stay.

Yes, I had thought of that but according to my calculations, to stay at OKW for the entire stay (18 days) and have 21 day tickets would cost an additional £900 (roughly), whereas 3 nights at RPR would cost around £650. I know it's only £250 difference but that would pay for our SeaWorld tickets.

At the moment, I'm thinking 3 nights at RPR followed by 14 nights at OKW. I would then go to SeaWorld during the 14 nights at OKW, potentially catching a bus/taxi. I just wish the park tickets were cheaper as I've noticed that the 14 day US adult tickets have gone up to £130 each! It seems a lot of money to pay when we will only be in the parks for 2.5 days :(

Sometimes the US universal tickets work out better if your only doing a few days. Have a look on Dreams Unlimiteds website - they have prices for 2/3 day tickets thatvwere quite competitive with the UK tickets when i last went. :)

It was a few years ago though.
