One thing that really bothers me...

We just don't go to the movie theater very often because of the outrageous cost and rude guests (people on their cell phones, talking during the movie, parents who bring their young children to R movies).

We aren't renting as many movies as we used to, either. Blockbuster wants $5 per rental and Netflix throttled our deliveries.

The local library has a half-decent selection of current movies and the local grocery store just got a Redbox ($1 per movie per night). Plus, we recently got Tivo, so there's always something we can watch on the t.v.

Try going to see Phantom and having 2 women break out into "soprano-itis" and sing LOUDLY when ever song was performed. Talk about wanting to clock someone.

:lmao: It's funny when you describe it -- but I can only imagine how mad and frustrated you must have been when it happened!

I feel your pain! I have no patience and I would've said something! Especially being the mother of a 3 year who takes him out of the theater when he gets cranky! Even in a kid movie, or cartoon! I even plan out our movies around his schedual. I make sure he has had a nap and has a full belly! I make sure it's at a time when he is "his best", like around 6-7pm. I think cell phones are just so rude in a theater. And most movie theaters give you so many notices as to shutting them off, it's rude, etc...
I have been lucky and never had to deal with the cell phone issue, just people kicking my chair and screaming kids!LOL But I always say something to the person! It costs alot to take the 4 of us to the movies and I won't let others ruin it!

We're one of the few that take our cranky kid out! :thumbsup2

Last night there was one boy around 10 or so kicking DD's chair, but he stopped before we could say anything to him. I'm going to start saying things if someone's disrupting the movie- like you said- it costs way too much to bring a family of 4 to the movies and not enjoy it because of others around you.

I dont know if they show it everywhere but our local theatre shows a commercial before the show asking people to turn of cell phones or they will be ejected from thier chair into the screen. How awesone would it be if that really happened!? :lmao:

I've never seen one of those! (How great that would be if the seats really did that! :rolleyes1)

:crazy2:

Oh, god. I would have thrown anything throw-able at them! Of course, only if I was sitting away from them to remain anonymous ;) Or, if I didn't have anything, I would just leave and say something to whoever I was with and make sure to pass them and say "I think my ears are bleeding from that noise."

But I doubt I would have said that, I'm not THAT mean. ;)

Oh, I hate going to the movies these days.

I made the mistake of going a couple weeks ago, because DH really wanted to go see X-Men 3 on opening night. (Mistake!! Never again go on opening night.) We made sure to get there REALLY early because I have to sit in an aisle seat. I went to the bathroom, and when I came back DH said that some girl asked him to save some seats for her and her boyfriend and left her purse there. The movie theatre was PACKED, I don't know why he said ok, I would've have because that just seems like a problem waiting to happen to me. Anyway, all was well and then JUST AS THE MOVIE WAS STARTING, about 6 kids came and there was NOT 6 seats!! So ofcourse the hormonal teenage boy said to his girlfriend, "Oh, you can sit on my lap!!" I nearly had a heart attack right there. I didn't think she would last, sitting on his lap for a 2 hour movie!!! They were very loud the entire time, but I didn't want to go and complain because I didn't want to waste the movie we just spent waiting 2 hours for. I'm surprised the person sitting behind them didn't complain, I don't know how they could see.

Anyway, I tried to ignore it but once something like that happens, I am in a bad mood.

Thanks to anyone who made it this far, I was just venting.

I would have turned around and asked how much they paid for the movie and when they answered say "Really me to.....You know why?---Because I wanted to hear them sing...NOT YOU!!" :thumbsup2

Ugghh! How annoying! :furious: I understand your venting, that's what I did, too. The DIS boards are a great, supportive place for venting! :)

They get one nice request from me to, "please be quiet so others can enjoy." If it happens again, the usher gets brought in. It's amazing how many people choose the "I paid for my ticket and can act however I please" route in front of the theater staff.
