One thing that really bothers me...

First of all, we just got home from seeing the movie Cars! What a great family movie! :cool1: It's fun for all ages! (Even DH was into it!) :thumbsup2 It's a "must see!" I was glad that we stayed when you would think that it was "over" because the very end really completed the movie. :teeth:

ANYWAY- One thing that really made me mad was this lady that was sitting RIGHT next to us- (of course!) Her phone kept ringing (and she kept answering it) - I mean, I can understand if it rings once- you just silence it or turn it to vibrate, or leave the theater to take the call. But, she was sitting there right in the middle of the movie talking on her cell phone! :ssst: Everyone was looking at her in annoyance- wouldn't she get the clue?!? It wasn't just a quick "I'm in the movies, I'll call you back." sort of thing either.... :sad2:

Has that ever happened to you? Have you gotten to the point where you tell them to be quiet?

Maybe it's just me.... :confused3

Funny, we saw cars yesterday and a woman was sitting behind us with her daughter. Her daughter did not want to sit and was very vocal about it and very loud. Her mom was just as loud as she told her she should sit and try to be quiet. This went on for almost the entire movie, along with kicking the back of my husband's seat and yanking his armrest up and down from behind. Occasionally, she would get up with her and walk her out and then they would return in a couple of minutes and it would start up again. It was so hard to hear the show sometimes and to concentrate. My kids didn't go to the movies til they were old enough to sit and be considerate of others. :confused3

The only time I ever say anything is if it really bothers me. And then only when the theater is kind of full and I'm not sitting very close to the offender. I'll just say, "Shhhh!" Or "Turn of your phone!" That way I can say it anonymously and they have no idea who said it! I'm a chicken when it comes to confrontations.

Exactly! Man, your story was worse than mine. It just kills me when people show so much disrespect. We paid $30.00 just to get in the theater (Me, DH, DD, & DS). Not counting popcorn, and drinks. We didn't pay to hear the cell phone ringing and children whining.

Don't get me wrong- I love to hear the kids laughing and having a good time during the movie- just not all the whining.

Me, too! DH is the complete opposite, though! If something needs to be said, he will say it. Kinda surprised he didn't say anything to this lady...

I would have had some fun and told her to please turn off her phone or the next time it rings I would get a manager who would be more than happy to make her do so.

Since everyone was bothered and she didn't care--I really don't care if she is offended by this suggestion.

Patrons are told (in the theaters I go to) that cell phones should be turned off when the movie starts, so there really is no excuse--maybe you don't realize..but after the 1st phone call---you should immediately realize.

:furious:

I would be so mad if I was in your situation. I cannot stand when people are so disrespectful.

When I went to the theaters to see Phantom of the Opera someone was text messaging during the movie! It's all dark in the theater, then right in front of me, I see the light of the cell phone and she was on that phone FOREVER! It's like watching a movie with a glare on a screen. I couldn't stand it :furious:

People should learn to turn off their phones. At least keep it on vibrate. I mean you can keep it on for emergencies or something, but as the OP said, leave the theater and talk and make sure your phone is on vibrate. :sad2:

BandGeek911-

That gets on my nerves, too! Ugghh... I think some people need to go to a "Movie Theater Etiquette Class!" :rotfl2:

I took my ds to see Cars on Thursday. My dd is only 2, so I left her with Grandma. Of course, I had my cell phone in case my Mom had an emergency with dd (not likely, but I'm paranoid). Before the movie, a reminder came on the screen to not use cell phones during the movie. At that point, I remembered my ringer was still on, so I took it out to turn it to vibrate. My ds (6yo) sees me and says "Mommy! It said no cell phones!". :rotfl2: I had to explain to him what I was doing. But, how is it that a 6yo can read the screen and understand, but adults can't? :confused3

:lmao: Too true- and I wish I knew the answer!

I hate cell phones period. I own one only because my husband insisted on it. I hardly ever take it with me unless I am going out of town without him. Of course he is one that thinks he has to have his with him 24/7.

At all the theater's I have been to they say no cell phone's on the screen when they are advertising the stuff at the concession stand. It is annoying when people don't follow the rules.

Right, and there was a commerical that had babies crying, cell phones ringing- and like you said- STILL people don't get the clue!

(Hopefully anyone that is guitly of being disresptful during a movie will read this thread and get a clue!! :rolleyes1 )

Thanks to the few that actually take their crying child out and silence their phone! :thanks:

This is why we watch so many movies at home. All that money then I cannot hear the show? I do ask people to hang up If they will not or get a second call I go get an employee to speak to them. Around Christmas the usher escorted about 6 young boys out and people clapped. They were on cell phones, throwing food and generally annoying everyone. It is not rude to ask someone to be quiet that does not have the common sense or courtesy to be quiet in a theatre so I always ask even if it embarreses my kids popcorn::

This is exactly why i rarely go to the movies. I am the type of person that would either take the call or would be itching to make a call halfway through what others thought was a great movie and what I was getting bored with. I don't even like much on tv. My husband is alway shushing me and I am like what we have tivo pause it LOL.

I hate this even at home watching TV. If someone is in the LR yakin on the phone...I throw them out. (of the room ...not the house). I swear if this ever happen in a movie theatre (where I am paying $$$$) I dump the Popcorn over the persons head! popcorn::

Try going to see Phantom and having 2 women break out into "soprano-itis" and sing LOUDLY when ever song was performed. Talk about wanting to clock someone.
