"One Step Ahead of the Slowpokes!"- A Dec '10/Jan '11 Trip Report! FINISHED 3/9 pg 38

I'm glad you loved the JC!!! It is a must for us every trip but we always have to make sure of the ride times because they aren't always open for EMH or parties and since we seem to be there only at night, we have to ride it before it closes!

You'll have to ride it at night sometime..it's even better!

That sucks you got the flu, that makes for a miserable few days =( I hope you feel better soon and I bet John took good care of you.
I love the Jungle Cruise, its one of my favorites. That would be such a fun job, wouldn't it? So I have an idea, I'll throw in my stethoscope and you throw in your Expo markers and we will get a job at Disney World =)

I agree about the JC - I couldn't believe we had never ridden it either. It's a must-do now. It is so fun, and funny!

That picture of CP is so pretty! :goodvibes

Ugh, so sorry you have the flu, hope you feel better soon!

Loved the update! It's so funny seeing everyone all bundled up at Disney World! I like the cooler weather down there, but I'm actually kind of looking forward to going during a warmer part of the year for this trip, so we can use the pool more! :thumbsup2

We always skip the Jungle Cruise too, it looks like so much fun, such a classic! I know I've done it once or twice with my family, but I have no memory of it so I'd like to do it again! We just never really had time on our last trip, even though it was one of my must do's!

I love those pictures of Sebastian! He would be so cute to have a meet and greet with! :cool1:

Hope you are feeling better after having the horrible flu.

Love all the pictures of Jungle Cruise especially the 'circle of life' one. That little boy sounds hilarious!

Glad you finally made it on the Jungle Cruise. I love it - especially when you have a great skipper!!

Glad you are feeling better! :goodvibes

It is always so sad to leave Disney!

My oldest loves the jungle cruise. We rode it about 3 times this past trip. I think I could give the tour myself now! It is definitely better with a great tour guide, we had one that was not so great and it made for a very long ride.

Have you ever eaten at The Crystal Palace? We had breakfast there this past trip and the food was great but we have had lunch there before and I did not enjoy it. Which is unusual since almost all food in Disney is awesome. It does make for a beautiful picture!

We danced in the parade right beside Sebastian...that song was in my head the whole time we were there. It was quite catchy

Your photo pass photographer did a great job! The pictures are great...even if John isn't smiling all the time.

Oh my, it has been SO long since I updated! I'm so sorry to all of my loyal followers! Time has really gotten away from me since my trip. I definitely owe all of you an update, so I promise I will get right to work on that! Please bear with me!

So happy you finally experienced Jungle Crusie! I have a really corny sense of humor, so JC and all its puns and bad jokes really appeals to someone like me! :lmao:

I have a corny sense of humor too! I loved the puns. I have tons of lame English jokes I use on my students, and they drive them crazy but I can't help it! For example: "An appositive renames a noun. Are you sure? I'm APPOSITIVE!" :rotfl: Wow, that's bad.

Thank you so much! John was a great nurse! I got better really quickly!

I think the Jungle Cruise would be a great place to work! I'm in for your plan- let's do it! ;)

It was great! We will definitely do it again!

Thank you! My pictures got steadily better, thank goodness! :)

I definitely HATED the cold weather at Disney. I don't think I'll ever complain about the heat there again. Well...maybe. :rolleyes1

You should definitely do it! We were glad we did!

I would love to meet Sebastian! I've never seen him anywhere except in that parade!

Hope you are feeling better after having the horrible flu.

Love all the pictures of Jungle Cruise especially the 'circle of life' one. That little boy sounds hilarious!

I feel so much better, thank you!

He is hilarious! He cracks me up everyday! :)

Subscribing! Loving your TR, it's making me so excited for my next trip :yay:

:welcome: I'm so glad you're enjoying it!

Thank you! :)

Yes, our skipper definitely made it a great trip!

It is always so sad to leave Disney!

I can imagine that poor skipper would make for a boring Jungle Cruise. I guess we got lucky!

We had dinner at Crystal Palace in 2009 and I didn't like it at all. However, when we had breakfast there on this trip it was great! I guess they just have better breakfasts!

That is so cool! It was a very catchy song! I was tempted to dance but I was in a hurry to ride more rides!

Thank you! I love the pictures too! :)

Hope to hear more you John and your adventures through Magic Kingdom :tigger:

I will be updating soon, I promise! I'm so glad you're enjoying it!

Subscribing! :thumbsup2

:welcome: I'm so glad you're here!

Hi everyone! I am FINALLY here to do an update after almost four weeks! I am making it my goal
to start paying more attention to my poor little TR, because it was a great trip that I want to share with all of you! Also, I need to clear up my schedule for a possible upcoming PTR...*ahem* :rolleyes1

I won't say anymore about that right now...

When we left off (ages and ages ago) we had just finished our first ride ever on Jungle Cruise! Since we were in the area, we decided it was time for one of our favorites: Pirates of the Caribbean! I don't think I'll ever get tired of this ride. On our way there, we caught a glimpse of the Cap'n himself! How is it even the "fake" Jack Sparrow at Disney World is dreamy? :lovestruc

We headed into the "line" for Pirates and soon realized it was going to be a walk on! We headed to the right instead of the left, and when we loaded into our boat we sat in the very back and a few people sat in the very front. That was it! It was so cool to ride in an almost empty boat.

We enjoyed our trip to the Caribbean (of course!) and I enjoyed spotting Jack Sparrow!

After riding Pirates we were feeling really adventurous, so we decided to try another new experience: The Enchanted Tiki Room!

PC260138.jpg

This is another one of those Disney classics like Jungle Cruise that I had heard so much about but had never tried. We went in not knowing what to expect, and as it turned out we weren't that impressed. It was nice to be in the warmth for a bit and I enjoyed the music, but John was so bored.

I realize now that neither one of us appreciated the Tiki Room as much as we should have. Last weekened we took my niece to see Gnomeo and Juliet, and there is a part in the movie when they play that song; when I heard it I almost cried!

After our second new adventure for the day, we decided to check out Frontierland! It was still really cold, so we went into the pin trading gift shop in Frontierland for a few minutes to warm up. When we came out, you'll never guess who I saw!

PC260141.jpg

SANTA! I just so happened to come out at the very end of the parade, and I had a great view of the jolly guy! It was so cool. I had to snap another picture! Plus, he waved!

PC260142.jpg

After our run in with Saint Nick we went over to Big Thunder Mountain Railroad to grab Fast Passes.

PC260143.jpg

PC260144.jpg

I feel like the little area in front of BTMR is always SO crowded. I decided to hang back while John grabbed the Fast Passes. After they were secured, we discussed a dilemma; should we ride Splash Mountain? Splash Mountain is one of my all time favorite rides, and there was hardly any wait, but it was because it was FREEZING. We finally agreed that one good ride wasn't worth being miserable all day, especially since I had a cold, so we skipped it.

After just a few minutes I already needed another break from the cold, so we went back into a gift shop to look around some. I took some pictures of a few things I thought were really cute.

PC260145.jpg

What a cute apron! The small one for little girls said "Domestic Princess,"which I thought was adorable.

PC260146.jpg

I don't drink tea, but I thought this would be such a beautiful decorative item! I loved the colorful pictures painted on it.

After warming up for a few more minutes, we headed out of the shop. On the way out I took a picture of a cute sign I'd never noticed before.

PC260149.jpg

Next we decided to go to my favorite part of Magic Kingdom: Liberty Square! I don't know what it is about that land, but I love it! There's something about the decorations and the music they play. I feel like I should have been born in that time period, because it makes me feel at home! Although, I do enjoy running water and electricity! :rotfl:

PC260150.jpg

I read in my Disney secrets book that the thirteen lanterns on this tree represent the thirteen original colonies! How cool!

Since we were already on a roll with trying new things, we decided to check out the Hall of Presidents!

PC260152.jpg

Honestly, this was an attraction we had avoided on past trips because it didn't sound that appealing. But today, with the freezing weather outside, it sounded perfect! I actually really enjoyed the show, and John enjoyed taking a nice power nap.

After the Hall of Presidents it was time to use our Fast Passes for BTMR.

PC260154.jpg

As we headed back to Frontierland I snapped a picture of the Ferry. Look at those poor cold people!

PC260153.jpg

While we waited in a very short line for our ride on the railroad, I attempted to take a one handed shot. I have been trying to get better at this ever since I saw how great RachelNinja is at it, but I still need some work!

PC260155.jpg

We had a great ride, even though it was freezing! Afterward we realized we only had about 25 minutes before our 2 o'clock lunch reservation at Liberty Tree Tavern. That was just enough time to ride one of my all time favorites: The Haunted Mansion!

PC260158.jpg

We hurried that way and jumped in line. I was nervous because the wait time said 30 minutes, but it never takes as long as it says it's going to. Sure enough, we were on the ride in about 10 minutes.

PC260159.jpg

I always love Haunted Mansion SO much! This is going to sound weird because it's supposed to be a haunted house, but I always feel so cozy riding in my "doom buggy" with John! I made the same comment I always make, which is "Madam Leota really shouldn't end a sentence with a preposition!" Then John proceeded to tell me to stop being a grammar psycho. That conversation has become a Haunted Mansion tradition for us, ever since I first heard Madam Leota "...call up the spirits, wherever they're at." :headache:

As we were leaving Haunted Mansion I snapped a picture of the pet cemetary. To me, this a classic example of Disney's amazing attention to detail. I love it!

PC260161.jpg

At about five minutes until 2, we headed over to Liberty Tree Tavern for our very first ADR on the Deluxe Dining Plan!

Up Next: Our very first meal on the DxDP (and our first time at Liberty Tree Tavern ever)! Stay tuned for some yummy food pics and reviews! popcorn::

Ahhh the Tiki Room is a great place for a nap. I have never noticed the pet cemetery will have to look for t in June. Great update.

Yay, finally an update!! :woohoo:

Can't wait to find out where/when your next trip is...if you would just get around to answering your texts! :rolleyes1 :rotfl:

I haven't been in the Tiki room since I was a kid, Brandon always wants to avoid it. It doesn't sound all that great!

How cool that you saw Santa, good timing! :thumbsup2

Good decision, skipping Splash! It wasn't cold when I was there, it was probably 80, and I thought that was too cool to be walking around soaked all day!

I love that Alice tea kettle, I always think about buying it, but never do! Maybe I'll just buy it in October and be done with it!

I know exactly what you mean about Liberty Square!! I always say I wish I lived during that time period!

Yay, Haunted Mansion! I've never seen that pet cemetery, how is that possible??? :rotfl2:

Catching up on your TR! Boo to having the flu! That's terrible! Do you get the flu shot? I got it one year, I think. The doctor recommended it due to being a teacher. I was going to get it the following year, but I was sick with a cold and was told I could go back to get it, but I just never did.

Yay for a great ride on Jungle Cruise! The CM really makes all the difference, but the people on the boat itself contribute to a better ride. I personally don't like it when there are a lot of little kids on the boat because the parents and the kids are pointing to all the animals ignoring what the CM says. This happened last week, and it was hard to hear what the CM was saying since we sat all the way at the back! I'm so used to being at the front and hearing EVERYTHING.

WHAT??? PTR?!?

I so so so wanted to catch a show of the fake Captain Jack Sparrow! I wanted to see him myself and also show my cousins just how good he could be! We purposely watched POTC the night before too in anticipation of the ride!

You took a GREAT one-handed shot at Thunder Mountain! It has to be harder for you because John is much taller. Howard and I are so close in height! It's funny that I thought he and I would get more pics this past trip since we had 3 other people with us. Haha, that didn't happen at all! I think we actually had fewer pics because we took pics of them!

AHAHAHHAHAHAH, I love the comment about Madame Leota and the preposition! I never noticed it because I'm ALWAYS so scared on the ride. I have take everything lightly and just look at the technical aspects of it. BTW, I hate that nowadays the ending-a-sentence-with-a-preposition-no-no isn't stressed as much. It bugs me so much! I've gotten so used to rephrasing sentences entirely to avoid it even though I'm sure some slip through ;)

Look at lonely Mr. Toad at the back of that pet cemetery! He looks happy, but I'd like to experience his ride again at my age now. I used to squint when I was a kid!

Oooo, I can't wait to see what you ate at Liberty Tree Tavern! I REALLY want to try that!

Can't wait to hear what you thought of LTT. We used to eat there all the time for dinner when they had characters. We haven't been back since because we always thought the food was just eh and at least at Chef Mickeys you could have a huge selection of food but we always did love LTT and they used to carry sweet tea but not anymore!

Oh, this trip report is so much fun.:yay: Please, don't leave us hanging too long now that you're back. :sulley:
