One Rental Car or Two?

Put on your thinking caps please. Here's my question: 6 of us will be going to WDW, 4 women, 2 children (ages 9 and 10).

What type of vehicle should we rent?

One full size car from National Car rental? (Will we and our luggage fit?)

2 cars?

A van or SUV?

To consider, I want to save as much money as possible. I have a coupon for one free day with National Car rental, for a full size car.

Thanks...

Most full size cars only have seating (seat belts) for 5. That's what National has for its fleet, anyway. My advice is to rent a minivan. Unless you really have a lot of luggage, you should be fine with a minivan.

So far, I've found the best price to be at Dollar using the promo code KISS3 (anyone can use it). We are also a party of 6 - 4 adults and two kids (age 4 & 8).

HTH. Good luck!

I second the mini-van idea. We did a trip to Niagara once with 6 and it was just so much better with a minivan and one car. And it's more comfortable too! The kids liked the back row and if not, you can put more luggage.

Just make sure how much luggage room there is in the mini-van.

I have been struggling with this same question! There are 7 of us, 2 adults & 5 kids. The kids are 2, 4, 6, 7 & 9. I am concerned we will be too cramped in a minivan yet I don't really want to rent 2 cars. I decided to just go ahead with the minivan. I got a pretty good rate with Dollar, $199 for 5 days in July using the KISS3 promo code.

I think that the 6 of you would be much more comfortable in a minivan than 1 full size car. Did you price out the difference between 2 full size cars (including your coupon) and a van? I owuld go with whichever is cheaper.

We are a party of 6 (4 adults and 2 kids). We are deciding between 2 cars or a minivan. The minivan is cheaper that renting 2 econo cars for the same time period.

I agree with the early post, Dollar is the cheapest with the KISS3 code.

I would go for the minivan with any of the above groups. You could even see if they (the rental places) have the captins chairs for the second row. That would give the passengers in the second row more room.

But getting two cars may also has a good side. Just depends on what everyones plans are. A couple things to think of...will the group split up at any point so you'd need two cars. And then there is parking and the cost of it.

As for the luggage (will it and eveyone fit) I say as long as you can squish in long enough to get to your hotel and unload ...it's not like you'll be driving all around the Orlando area with all the luggage everyday.

Just an idea.

We are all staying at Pop Century so if we need to split up we can use Disney transportation. The only downfall is that 3 of the group are leaving a few days earlier so I would have to drop them off at the airport.
