One reason why I love my job (at a large national publishing company) - New book presentations. Today my *second* ( ;) ) favorite of our distributees came and went over their fall book line. WOW. I'm legally unable to give out too much info, but let me just say, Hello Kitty fans will be very happy, golf fans will be in their glory and a certain book about a certain Mouse and the man who created him is being updated for the first time in 9 years! Also saw a few other books I plan to pre-order for the fall.

But besides that, when the distributees come, they bring free stuff. I got tons of free boxed notecards, posters, books, stickers and other goodies.

So no matter how much I know I whine about my job, there's always the little things. :)

Nice benefits from the job!!! Good for you.

I work for an insurance company so all I can say is I drive really good, have life insurance and have education accounts set up for my kids:D

Wow! Awesome!

I work at a mortgage company. There are no perks unless I want to refinance the house I don't have. But I do get good quarterly bonuses! ;)

I work for a real estate developer so the main reason I like my job:

It pays for my Disney trips:Pinkbounc

I have an image of Bridgette Jones' Diary.

I can't post my perks, one is being able to post messages with you fine folks!

I love my job for the perks and inside information I can get. Everytime I go home, I get a million questions on what the chefs are doing on Food Network, what shows will still be airing, new episodes etc, can you get me this recipe etc.

Same for HGTV - sometimes it can drive me batty, but overall I enjoy it. Getting to meet and talk with the hosts/chefs can be fun. The first time I got an e-mail from Alton Brown (he answered a question for me on something that was in his kitchen) I about freaked (and that was when I first started a few years ago). Now, it is no big deal to me, but seems to be a big deal to friends and family.

I have a message on my answering machine I saved from a few years back from Leonard Nimoy. People get a real kick out of that!

 :)

Why do I always get jobs without perks? The hospital's big perk was...at least you still have a job, even though we're cutting you back to 32 hours for the summer. And don't expect an increase in hours when the fall rolls around.

Very cool stuff!!!! Must be great getting the "early scoop"! :)

What do you do at HGTV and the Food network?? HGTV is always on at my house!

What I like best about my job is that I will only be there for only 5 more weeks!!!

How fun!

I sometimes get CDs and Videos before they are on sale to the public. Freebies don't flow like the used to though. The music business is declining a bit.

Free concert tickets and movie sneak preview tickets can be found occassionally too.

Sometimes I forget how lucky I am.

Your jobs all sound interesting. I get to act wacky and creative sometimes, and that always makes the day go faster. :sunny:

luvwinnie - well, I work in the grand central of the networks and speak to the people :-) I actually take phone calls and answer e-mails that we receive from people who watch the networks. Most of the time, the job is wonderful, however, we have those moments in which we would love to just turn the phone off. You would not believe some of the calls we get!

We are the first to get information on new shows, shows that are cancelled (hate those), new hosts(hate host changes, too)etc.

It is very interesting, and never a dull moment. I have learned alot working in television - that way you think things work, is totally opposite. We have a saying in our department now- if we see something we don't like on tv(show cancels, new air time), we always comment "I am being such a viewer right now...". We get nasty phone calls when we cancel a show or switch its air time. For the most part, I can understand, but being nasty isn't going to help any. ;)

I work for a credit card company, ...:sunny: :sunny: :sunny:

We get a lot of vacation time after only a few years, and flex time and we sometimes will get free merchandise, like a free t-shirt or mug with the credit card logo on it..

You left out the important stuff:

Do you get good rates just for working there???

We get free t-shirts and mugs and stuff. Tote bags sometimes.

Of course, this is cool, but the pay is terrible and the work is pretty tedious.

I get cool perks too- hugs :D The best perk I got this year was when one of my students who was struggling with writing his numbers finally got it after working with me one-on-one for a few days. I'll never forget his smile :D

i really love the perks of my job too,, no insurance, no retirement, no unemployment ,, very flexable hours thogh, excellent relationship with the boss, (i even get to share her bed) able to take off when ever i want too, no overly pushy co workers,

always have somer home improvement going on, my yard stays nicely landscaped, never a dull moment either:)

is actually happy that i get to go make and pour concrete patch on sunday:) i might even get to hold a paint brush:) ( god i soo miss b eing able to actually work:))
