One question!

We are a family of six (8,10,13,15).

Going to Universal for only one day. (Disney for several more)

Not staying on-site (won't work even for a night)

We will try to do as many rides as possible - will arrive early in the morning and go go go for the first three or four hours then slow down, maybe leave and then come back.

I guess i have two questions. If you only have one day - which park and what touring plan.

Please recommend the morning touring plan. (We won't want to do any of the Kiddie type rides) Kids will ride almost any ride. (I don't want to get soaking wet)

Well if you want to fit more in , I would do universal where you can do...

1. Men in black
2. Revenge of the mummy
3. Et
3. Back to the future
4. Jaws
5. Shrek
6. Earthquake

None of these are roller-coaster type with the exception of revenge of mummy

If you want to have less rides but they are more technologically advanced try Islands of Adventure (This would be my choice but since you do not want to get soking wet, that elimates 3 great rides)

1.Hulk
2. Spiderman
3. Dueling dragons
4. Dr. Dooms fear fall

Really wet rides

1. Dudley Do rights ripsaw falls (better than splash mountin
2. Poopeyes (really run raft ride)
3. Jurrasick Park (boat)


If you chose universal , I would

1. Go early (when the park opens)
2. Get express for revenge of the mummy
3. Go to men in black and ride that
4. Ride the revenge of the mummy when it is your express time (men in black and revenge of the mummy are two of the most popular)
5. Ride back to the future
6. For the afternoon mabey see the wild wild west stunt show and do rides like Jaw, Earthquake and et.


If you chose Islands of adventure

1. Go early (when the park opens)
2. Get express for spiderman (one of the busiest rides)
3. Ride the hulk
4. Go on spiderman
5. Do the dueling dragons
6. You may decide to do the water ones at the end of the day, if you do, I would recommend getting express for dudley do rights ripsaw falls, then going on popeyes, then ridding dudley do rights when your express time comes

First - thanks a lot

Another question.

Most of us get sick on the simulator type rides. If it is part of a larger experience it is ok but Star tours at MGM is no good and Mission Space took me two hours to get over.

Would this info change your recommendations

simulators would eliminate a lot of rides

1. back to the future
2. Men in black (might be ok, very smooth)
3.Revenge of mummy (half simulator half rollercoaser)
4. Spiderman (considered the best simulator ever, very smooth)
5. Earthquake (most likely will be ok)


Men in black and spiderman are very smooth so I think they might be ok (there still are jerky movements)

Alot of universal rides are simulators, so I might need a second opinion on which rides might be ok.

Feel free to ask anymore questions (It can be exciting )

A can be a little more descriptive about what makes me sea sick or car sick type feeling.

I can't think of any rides at Disney except Star Tours and Mission Space that cause a problem. If they are just sit and shake or tip up and down they are bad for me. If you are actually moving most or a lot of the time I am ok.

And when I say soaking wet I mean pants and shirt wet through. The Splash Mountain ride at Disney is no big deal. A little water on the front of a shirt or pants is no big deal but wet shoes would be bad.

I think I need a second opinion on the simulators. (they are very stop,go,stop, got)

Dudley do rights ripsaw and popeyes is really really wet , shoes, t-shirt, the lot (you can take your shoes of on popeyes) Jurrasik park should be fine

Simulator rides make me sick too, mostly the 3-d rides. Back to the Future I cannot do, Spider-Man is on a track and moves around so it is not as bad, it is worth it though, IMO. M.I.B. does not bother me at all, I wouldn't really call it a simulator, same for earthquake. Have not been to Disney so can't compare to rides there. But at Sea World, the wild arctic ride makes me really sick, if you have been on that. Haven't ridden Mummy yet.

Water rides- we got really wet on Dudley's Ripsaw falls, not too much on Jurrasic Park. Never got to ride popeye's, every time we got in line it stormed. But it is mentioned that you can take your shoes off on popeye's and put them in a holding place in the center of the boat so they won't get wet.

I thought I heard that Florida changed the rules on taking off your shoes. The new rule - you have to keep our shoes on. I do not know this for a fact it is just a rumor.

I will have to read the reviews of each ride and figure out which ones will be bad.

on popeyes, there is a covered section in the middle of the raft where you can put shoes/socks

We were told we had to keep our shoes on the last couple of trips,, which is why I invested in waterproof tevas sandals for the family. Nothing is nastier than soggy trainers and socks,,,

I didn't hear that it was a new Florida regulation tho,, I thought it was because people were taking so long putting their footgear back on after the ride,,lol.

Mummy is not any part simulator but it is certainly coaster.

Last week they let us take our shoes off on Popeye.

I also get sick on simulators and spinning rides. By taking a non-drowsy motion sickness medication, I eliminate all motion sickness and can ride all of the rides.

Men in Black is not a simulator but it does spin about 6 times during the entire ride.

I avoid Terminator.

I get sick on the 2 rides you mentioned at WDW. Stay away from Back to the Future and I got sick on the Mummy even taking a Dramamine (I think its the dark). Universal Studios is my favorite park but from the ages of your kids I think you want IOA. We did it Sunday with DS15 and DD10. Be at the turnstile 45 min before 9. Look on the turnstile for a green lighted arrow or ask an attendant if that specific turnstile will open. At opening allow the kids to run to Hulk. Then Dr. Doom if they can handle Tower of Terror. Then Spiderman, Jurassic Park, Dueling Dragons (both sides). You have hit all the biggies now, if you hustled from Spidey to JP, and it should be about 10:30. The park will be congested by the time you make it back to the front. You should be able to do Cat in the Hat without too long of a wait. BTW, I have done the Hulk (front seat) with Dramamine and did not get sick.
On your way out you can stop at the Motown arcade and have the place to yourself. Come back about 4 to Universal but expect lines but more people will be leaving than arriving. Consider using the single riders lines for Mummy and MIB.
Good luck, you sound like theme park commandos so you should be OK.
Popeye speakers were shouting Friday not to take your shoes off. They will get wet. Dudley Do-Right as well. Don't worry about JP, unless in front, then its just upper body.

Just a FYI, the Wild West Stunt show was closed permanently on Sept. 1, 2003. So far there is no other replacement.

I get motion sickness also - I usually take dramamine, but it makes me sleepy! What are you referring to as a non drowsy med?? I would love more info - TIA!

I tossed the box but purchased them at the 7-11 on I Drive just north of Sand Lake. I didn't get sleepy. I remember having to take them an hour ahead of time. When I took them for the Hulk it felt like they had wore off about 3 hours later when I did Cat In The Hat.

There are 2 name brands: Bonine and Non-Drowsy™ formula Dramamine.

The active ingredient is Meclizine Hydrochlorine. You can buy Meclazine tablets over the counter at most pharmacies. I just the asked the pharmacists at Walgreens and Eckards. They can order you a bottle of 100 tablets for around $5, which is less than 8 tablets cost of the name brands.

The tablets are chewable or can be swallowed. They work for 24 hours so you can take one the night before and it should work for all the next day.

From what I remember (last year) they didn't want people taking off their shoes BEFORE they got on the ride. I heard them saying that. Once we were in I took mine off and put them in the center holder.
