Are there any moderate or value resort room (other than a family suite) that will hold 2 adults and 3 kids (all under 11yrs)

We used to stay at Port Orleans - Riverside in the Alligator Bayou section. We loved staying there and it has a special place in our hearts. Our favorite part about staying there was seeing Yee Ha Bob :cool1:. He really knows how to make everyone have a good time.

Port Orleans Riverside is great. Will also suggest looking the Cabins at Fort Wilderness, comfy and Fun

Cabins at Fort Wilderness!!! And rent a golf cart and tool around the resort. SO fun.

Port Orleans is a moderate, while Art of Animation is a value, and has suites that may be able to accomodate you.

Bold items - Actually this isn't true anymore, since the referb is completed. Only the AB rooms will sleep 5 people, and they only have a murphy bed (trundles were removed). The murphy bed is made for a small child/adult. Disney recommends someone under 9 years. But other DISers have reporded older, but small adults, teenagers, children who were comfortable in the bed. If you decide to go this route, make sure you check out the POR thread for more information. (there are varying opinions about the appropraite size/weight/width of the person)

Btw, is one of your children under 3 years old? If so you can techincally sleep in any room that sleeps 4 and have the young child in a pack & play or crib. That is another thing you'll need to research because most resorts only have pack & plays. Some resorts still have cribs, but they are phasing them out.

kddisney502 - thanks for the clarification. I had friends stay there a couple of years ago who didn't really like the trundle beds, but I thought it was personal preference. Glad to hear they changed that.

So, does "AB" stand for Alligator Bayou in your post? Is the Murphy bed a single? And, do they still have Bunk Bed rooms? If so, are there still 2 other beds in the room? I appreciate the information since I haven't stayed there myself in many years.

AB is aligator bayou. The murphy bed is a single. I beleive it's simliar size to the old trundle bed, but it sits up on top of fold down bench. I've heard that the bed can be removed from the bench and put on the floor (attached with velcro). But floor area in the room may be tight since they have changed from 2 double to 2 queen beds. As far as I know there are no bunk beds at POR.

Here are some pics of the murphy bed:

Big thank you - the pictures are quite helpful!

Great information and pics too! So if I understand correctly, AB is the "only" Moderate that offers a single family room that sleeps 5 or are there others, ie, Mansions, French Quarter, Caribbean beach, Pop, all-star?

All Stars has some family suites created by combining 2 connecting rooms, making one into a livingroom type area with pull out sofa and sleeper chair. The second room had a kitchenette area and bed. They were the original effort to provide a comfortable rooming option for families of 5 and proved successful enough that Disney then built the AoA.

Coronado Springs has junior suites, but they are pricey. Here is a description from Mousesavers.

The resort has about 30 junior suites, which are basically equivalent to two connecting standard rooms. The bedroom includes either one king bed or two double beds and the second room is set up as a living room with a sleeper sofa or Murphy (Sico) bed. There are two bathrooms. Junior suites have an occupancy of 4 or 6 people and cost more than 2 standard rooms.

Yes, Alligator Bayou is the only mod that has 5 person occupancy per room in the traditional hotel set-up.

Otherwise, it's a cabin or a room at a deluxe resort.

On property, but not Disney, is the Dolphin. I believe they allow 5 with a roll-away.

Port Orleans is the only moderate that has a standard room that sleeps 5. None of the standard rooms at any of the value resorts sleep 5. The value family "suites" at All-Star Movies and Art of Animation sleep 6, but are too expensive. The cabins sleep up to 6, but I felt like they were WAY overpriced for what they are and only have 1 bathroom. We started getting 2 connecting rooms at All-Star Movies or Pop Century many years ago and that seems to work out the best now that our kids are all almost over 10. You have much more room and 2 bathrooms.

Agreed that this is super fun! Did this at the end of January with Nana, Papa, DH, DS2, DD4 and myself. We had a great time at the FW cabins riding around in our golf cart. :drive:

And we took advantage of the location to do some special things: HDDR, smores at the campfire with Chip and Dale, and pony rides on Cinderella's horses (definitely one of the kids' favorite activities in all of WDW).
