Thank you. We had a lot of fun. My only wish was that we did more than what was on our Fastpass+ itinerary. I felt like every day that we were there. We were constantly on the move all the time from one attraction to the next without a break in between. I did get a bit of a break when I told Dan, and our friends that we were with on the second to last afternoon that we were there that I didn't want to see Illuminations for the second time because I was getting tired, and wanted to go back to the resort. We were at Epcot. Dan wanted to stay, so I ended up heading back to the bus stop by myself pushing myself in my manual wheelchair while sitting in it.
That worked out until my scoliosis-affected back couldn't bear it anymore. Then I slowly got up, and pushed my manual wheelchair to the exit. Walking for me takes a lot longer than it does pushing myself sitting in my manual wheelchair. With my power wheelchair. It's stress free on my back. But, after having all of the surgeries I've had. Pain is nothing to me. Sometimes I try to bear it until it really gets to me. Then I know I have to take it easy.
When my back couldn't stand me pushing my wheelchair while walking behind it. I got back in, and slowly propelled my wheelchair using my left foot. I was about five feet from the bus stop for the Old Key West resort, so I knew that I was going to make it even though my back really was not happy with me. The bus hadn't come yet when I got there, so I was the first one to be there before everyone else. I was alone for about five minutes before the bus driver who was going to switch with the driver driving the Old Key West bus came walking up to me, and we started talking.
I truly love it so much when I get to interact with the cast members whether they're working in the parks. Or, driving the buses. Dan, and I didn't get to interact much with the bus drivers on this trip. But, we did get to interact with some of the cast members in the parks, and had a lot of fun from that. The bus driver told me where she was from (Rhode Island), and that she had just recently moved to Florida to work for Disney. I told her that I was from Oregon, and that I had wanted to work for Disney once I moved out of my mom's house. But, then things with me medically had changed, and it forced me to stay close to home. Dan, and I live five miles away from my old hometown which works for my mom. We also have a great support network of people who would drop anything to help us out if we need it.
Dan has cerebral palsy, and is able to walk. But, his needs are a lot greater than mine in some areas.
