Oh my, I can't believe it's over! I only went w/ my DS for 2 days but it was AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
In fact as I sit here typing I'm already planning our next trip.....58 days and we're going back!!!!
I LOVE planning our trips to WDW and this was no exception. Although my planning was minimal, we were only going for 2 days and it was just my DS5 and I.
This trip was a total surprise to my son and our 1st time to MNSSHP! I'm not sure what I was more excited about; the surprise, going to the 1st MNSSHP or having the chance to use all the wonderful ideas/hints/tips that I've read and re-read on these boards.
Well, after an agonizing morning at work on Friday, noon finally came and out the door I ran. I picked up my son and hit the road (we only live 2 1/2 hours away....well 2 1/2 hrs if my DH drives and only 2 hrs if I'm behind the wheel...I was in a hurry I need a Mickey fixed). I told my son we had to pick up something for our new house we are building and if he was good I would take him to my Favorite Toy Store in the whole wide world! Can't believe he didn't figure it out then.
He finally fell asleep about 1 hr into the trip, and awoke as we got on the Osceola Pkwy. He didn't know where we were UNTIL...we came around the final corner and there was the WDW Sign.
THE Biggest grin covered his face as he saw the sign - that's the look I was waiting for! I asked if he wanted to call daddy and tell him where he was
"No, he'll miss us and want us to come home."
This child was taking no chances, nothing was stopping him from hanging out w/the Mouse!
Our room at ASMo was ready, we dropped off our stuff and then I told him I had 1 more surprise for him...."We are going to go to Mickey's Halloween Party tonight, I have your Batman costume and we get to stay until Midnight!"
So, off we went to MK, we arrived about 4:40pm and I handed him the map and told him this was his weekend, where are we going? " Fast Train, Fast Train!!"(that's what he calls Big Thunder Mnt)
There was NO WAIT! OMG!!!! Last time we went to MK it was XMas 2003, need I say more?
Even my DS couldn't believe we didn't have to wait!
Then we headed to the Starlight Cafe for a some dinner. Again NO WAIT! Just as we finished and headed outside, the characters were heading to Tomorrow Land to keep us HP guests entertained for the 1hr while they decorated the rest of MK.
My DS spots Mickey, "Ohhhhhhhhhhhhh I have to stop to say Hi to Mickey, I have to let him know I'm here." So we get in line to take pics...no more than 5 min wait!!!
As he finishes taking the picture here's my chance to try out 1 of the tips I learned from these boards....
I walked up and asked Minnie
"Did you get a wedding ring yet?"
She shakes her head no and Mickey turns around and hides his face. I then pat her shoulder and tell her "that's okay, cuz Ty (pointing to my son...who is in shock that I'm talking w/ Minnie) said he'd marry you."
She points to Ty and blows him a kiss, Mickey turns around and shakes his finger at him then jumps between him and Minnie and shakes his head NO! Ty's laughing and loving all of this. And blows kisses to Minnie as we walk away.
Now on to the rest of Tomorrow Land....NO WAIT for anything here! In fact, some things we rode twice. It's now 7pm and the entire park is at our disposal. On to the Tea Cups....there were only 7 of us riding this ride!!!! I'm still in shock and loving every moment of NOT WAITING!
We continue making our way through the park, riding some things twice, NEVER needing to bounce back and forth throughout the park and Stopping to Trick or Treat at the designated areas...GREAT CANDY!!!!
We had 10 min. to find a spot to sit for the fireworks....you would think that waiting til the last min. would cause some logistical problems...NOPE, we got to sit just to the right of the castle, I wanted to see the witch fly down and this is where I was told to be.
These fireworks have just topped every fireworks show I have ever seen at MK, the part where the fireworks are actually 360 degrees is UNBELIEVEABLE! I can't say enough about the show, I don't think my DS blinked, he was in awe! He kept saying "I can feel my heart beating, this is sooooooo cool."
Now back to The Fast Train, as we are walking through the line....no wait! He stops reaches up and gives me a big kiss and says "Thank you for bringing me here."
I told him "Thank you for coming with me, this is awesome."
I do believe I have completely melted!!! I love WDW and I love spending Mommy and Son time with all this magic!
Oh, now we found Chip and Dale....another chance to try something I learned on these boards....just as my DS gets his picture taken I walk up and ask "Okay, so are you guys like squirrels?" Oh they just go nuts.....Ty's laughing so hard he has tears rolling down his face. I'm having a blast.
I'm hooked I can't wait to find more characters and stir up more trouble! These characters are absolutely incredible with staying in character and hamming it up with the guests!
OMG only 15 min til the 10pm parade...got to find a seat. Oh where oh where to sit? As we walk down Main Street we find a spot ON THE CURB....less than 15min til the parade and I'm sitting on the curb. 5 min. before the parade and the Headless Horseman comes riding by right in front of us.
I have never sat through any parades at WDW but I knew I had time and I didn't want to miss this one. Ty hasn't seen one either and this was THE ONE to see! The music and dancers were fantastic, the floats were incredible, we are definitely spoiled now!
Parade is over and there's time to trick or treat and get on more rides. The park is thinning out even more after this parade but not us. We are going to hang in there!
It's now 11pm and as we walk pass the castle I realize that there is another show...Cinderella's Magic Gathering (or something to that effect.) I ask Ty to watch this with me, he agrees and with 3 min. to spare before the show...we still down directly in front of the castle! This show was great, I never get to see the Villians enough and they were all there. Ty loved seeing Peter Pan beat Captain Hook. There's a point where Donald gets scared by one of the Villians, he spins around and faints. Ty gets so upset,
"Is Donald okay? Did he die? What happened to him?" I thought that child was going to climb up onto the stage to save poor Donald. At the end Donald jumps up and total relief covers my sons face. Whewww, I thought we were going to have a new cast member in the show..."Fearless Ty" his role would be giving Donald CPR!
It's now 11:20, time to buy a Chocolate Crossiant at the bakery on Main Street and head back to ASMO.
We are back at the resort and in bed by 12:15!!!!
