Ds has known this girl for 3 years but they were out of touch since he switched schools back then and they recently re-connected. The two of them are part of an on-line art group where they post their art work and also converse with one another.
My son is an asperger's kid and he came in to me earlier visibly upset and he didn't know how to say what he wanted so he showed me her note to all her friends - basically filled with how sad and unhappy she was...so sad to read. Ds was crying and didn't know what to do. We tried calling the house but there was no answer. We drove over to her house just a couple miles away and got to speak briefly with her Dad. I felt uncomfortable doing so but I was so afraid that she was alone. Her Dad knew - I think one of the other on-line friends called him - and he was with her.
She called my ds a short while ago to let him know that she was ok. I do hope that she gets the help she needs and nothing else happens.
I am proud of my son for caring about his friend and wanting to help. He also went back on the site and assured their friends that she was ok and he had seen and spoke with her Dad. I just held him and let him cry as he was so upset.
I can't stop thinking about her...I had only met her and her Dad once a couple years back when she & ds were at the same school. I hope that she will be ok.
Tough night.
Jill
