One night .... where would you stay? POR, BC or FW Cabins?

Our trip is planned for June 2018! Whoohooo!! We will be staying at BLT in a 2 bedroom Villa with my parents. Because of flight schedules we will be flying into Orlando a day earlier than my parents and earlier than our reservation at BLT.

So we are trying to decide where to stay for 1 night. We aren't going to get park tickets that day. I thought it would be good to have a resort day to let the kids (age 6 and 11) relax and have fun before hitting the parks the next day. Our flight gets to Orlando around 12pm. I'm trying to decide where to stay for that one night.

Port Orleans is cheaper, has a good pool and you can ride the boat to Disney Springs.

Fort Wilderness cabins has so much to do, not as great of a pool, but horseback riding, and Chip and Dale's campfire (which I'm not sure my 11 year old would like but I think our 6 year old would have a blast).

Beach Club - Stormalong Bay!

We've never stayed at BC or FW Cabins before. If you had one afternoon and one night, where would you stay?

BC gets my vote. Stormalong Bay is the perfect place to spend the afternoon, and then you can walk over to the BW in the evening for some entertainment and ice cream, maybe a surrey bike rental.

POR is a good resort if you want to save a little money. Our grandsons loved the pool slide. And they always found friends willing to play tetherball. The boat to Disney Springs is nice, too. The Beach Club is great, too. They have an even better pool than POR. You can watch both the Epcot fireworks and the Hollywood Studios fireworks from there. :)

The cabin would be fun, too, but it would also be more of a hassle if you don't have a car.

BC if your budget allows, but POR is a budget conscious choice. Their pool area is very nice, boat to DS is convenient.

Another vote for Beach Club. Stormalong Bay + Crescent Lake + the BoardWalk + a view of Illuminations = a great first day.

Beach Club! That would be a relaxing day - with ability to go over to Boardwalk. FW Cabin would be annoying for one night - it would take that long to get the lay of the land. POR is too spread out for us - We prefer POFQ.

POR, then spend time around the resort and Disney Springs.

I would've voted BC but I saw you won't be using park tickets that day. The temptation of World Showcase (esp the dining) would be too much for me to stay there without tix! :scared:  Plus, budget-friendly.

I was going to say BC because of Stormalong Bay. But I would hate for your kids to be comparing the boring BLT pool to Stormalong Bay all week. My vote is to save the money and go to POR.

Is it possible to add a day to your tickets? I'd say BC if so, for the pool and to walk over to Epcot and stroll around the World Showcase if you desire.

I agree with the others, though, that if that's too expensive, POR looks cute (I've never stayed there).

I thought the same thing...I wouldn't want them to compare Stormalong Bay all week but on the other hand at least they would have one day with a really good pool :)

Beach Club, especially with it being a no park day. Stormalong Bay and having the boardwalk right there makes it well worth it for the night.

Just remember that you might get some rain in June in the afternoon, or all day. Having a variety of activities might help make that more enjoyable. If your budget allows it, stay somewhere you haven't previously. I would actually favor Fort wilderness cabins in your case. The cabins were redone recently, and you can have a great breakfast at trails end in the morning before meeting up with the rest of the family.

I hadn't thought about the rain! That would be just my luck!

!

If your budget allows, I would say Beach Club. The Beach Club shares their pool with the Yacht Club and that pool is arguably the best pool on property. It is also walking distance to the Boardwalk which has some good food options. Another thing that you can consider is the Beach Club is walking distance to the Fantasia miniature golf course.
