One Night Stay at AKL on 1/16/14

We just booked a Pool View Room at AKL for the afternoon/evening before our mother/daughter quick 3 nt weekend cruise on the Re-Imagined Disney Magic.
I considered booking a Savannah View (not sure which to request) or a Arusha Savannah View, but just not sure if it is worth the extra money for just being there from like 4 till we go to bed and then in the morning before we leave for Port C.
I was also worried about the temps and if any animals would even be that way.
I figured pool view and then we could go to the lookout to see anything else.

For that short of a stay, I think I'd stick with the pool view. We've stayed both savanna and pool view and while the savanna view was nice, I loved our pool view just as much (and wouldn't hesitate to book it again ). Like you said, there are plenty of viewing areas around the resort, so I wouldn't spend the extra money on savanna view if I wasn't going to be there very long.

Make sure you try the night vision goggles in the pool area. They're free to try and sometimes gives a great view of the animals at night.

We always request a room on the zebra trail. The hallway to the room has open windows to the pool on one side and the savannah on the other. It makes me feel completely immersed in the resort.

I think you made the right decision. We've stayed pool view at AKL and loved it. There are more places to view the animals than I had anticipated before we went, including large glass window areas in our walkway/hallway to and from our room. With as many opportunities to view the animals, I wouldn't hesitate to book pool view again.

I stayed there around the same time this past January. We got a pool room and it was perfect. We enjoyed sitting out in the savannah view areas down the hall watching the animals with a cup of coffee in the morning but also enjoyed the great view of the pool during our stay. It's the best of both worlds.
