I land in Orlando at 4:30 PM on a Thursday in February. I will be solo as the rest of my group comes in the next day. Thinking of the following ideas…

1. Stay in a Disney Springs Hotel…dinner and explore in Disney Springs

2. Stay on International Drive and go to places like the Blue Martini and Howl at the Moon

3. Purchase a ticket for the Late Hours at Epcot- stay in that area

Other ideas ?

I'd go with option #1 because I've never been to DS at night. The latest I've been there is 6:00pm, and that was because there was a sudden downpour that started around 4:15, and we just decided to stay where we were. Besides, the boats stopped running, and didn't start again until 6:00.

I'd be tempted by option 3. But it very much depends on what your plans are when the rest of your group joins you?
Agreed, hard to not pick option 3, but if your party is planning on doing a lot of park time or other after hours parties then maybe not.
If not 3, I’d pick option 1.

Of the choices you listed, I like the idea of Disney Springs best. When I visit DS on arrival day, I feel like it heightens my excitement for the rest of the trip.

I have done a party on arrival day, and it was stressful. My flight was on time, and I took lyfts to the hotel and to the party, but I ended up arriving later than I had wanted to the party anyway, just because everything takes longer than you think.

As for other ideas, I think I would personally see Yehaa Bob. It's on my list of things to try. If you stay at a DS hotel, you can walk to DS, and take the boat to PO Riverside.

Thanks for the Disney Wisdom!

I was leaning toward attending the Disney After Hours at Epcot but my landing time of 4:30 (without delays) could make it stressful instead of fun. I need to do some more research on what is open, etc.

Yehaa Bob is an interesting idea

I wouldn't plan anything that involved money that couldn't be canceled (after hours, parties, etc), especially in the winter. You don't know when, if, or how long your flight would be delayed. Id' go with option #1- and if you want a nice dinner, many of the Disney Springs restaurants are on Open Table. YOu can make a reservation and then cancel, last-minute, if the flights don't work out, with no cancellation charge. I would hate trying to fly and always keeping one eye on the clock, not knowing for sure if I was going to get to a paid-for event on time or not!

Tbh, I don’t think AH at Epcot sells out much. If you get there as planned and are inclined to go, you may well be able to buy the ticket and head on over. Alternatrly, if you don’t make it, you can apply the value to another event ticket - just be sure you have a screenshot or other reminder of the pass number. After Hours are phenomenal. I did the Epcot one solo in August and had a blast - but do research it first! I think I rode Guardians like 5 times (essentially walking right into the preshow), and then had a private dance party with Goofy.

Staying at a Disney Springs resort area - either the non-Disney hotels right across the street (Wyndam, Hilton), or at Saratoga Springs - is a great and safe idea, and still leaves option #3 open if you end up with the time to make it. From Disney Springs, it's really easy to just hop the Beach or Boardwalk bus, and walk into Epcot. If the timing doesn't look good or you can't get into the Epcot AH, you still have all the options of Disney Springs with plenty of restaurants, bars, live music, etc. Even getting to Yehaa Bob is a cinch from Disney Springs as you just hop the boat to Riverside.

I vote for option 1 but it depends on what you like to do. I enjoy some good cocktails and food while strolling and people watching.

I don't know where you are staying once your friends arrive, but maybe consider an All Star for one night? You can get some good deals and it might be cheaper than a LBV hotel by DS. And you can take a bus. And if you are staying on property, you can have your luggage transferred to the next resort. If you want to spend a bit more, consider Pop Century and take the Skyliner over to Epcot and do the After Hours event.

I was able to change my flight to a nonstop that lands at 10 AM. This should open up some nice options!
Does that mean redeye, or just an early flight?
I did a redeye once and it was really tough to get through that first day, i was almost delirious by the time I got back to my room to crash out.

I’d do the 1st option.
