Thinking of doing this on our surprise trip while holding our okw room. Anyone spent a night on the dark side? Do we get any deals over here? Who would you book with?

We could go almost any night during our three weeks 21st July on. Thinking of first Tuesday night maybe. Any tips much appreciated. Thanks

funny - night on the dark side!!

we did it a few weeks ago...while we still had our rooms at WDW..

DS really wanted to see HP, so i reserved one night at the royal pacific resort - the cheapest of the 3 universal resorts...
by having a room at a universal resort, you get early entry into IoA's harry potter section...
and then you also get front of the line entrance into other attractions..

but really the only reason we did it was to see the HP section of the park and to get that one hour early entry, which made it easy to visit the HP area...
then we went on the other attractions.... we were completely finished with IoA by 12:30 and checked out of the hotel by 1 PM...and back at WDW by about 1:30..

i don't know who is cheap to book with, i booked directly with universal...

I would love to do this but The cost of those hotels is very, very high (in our eyes!!). We go for opening and even in spring break have never waited more than 20 minutes for anything, so it can be done!! You can also but the FOTL passes.

We're staying at OKW in Nov and are doing what you are suggesting. We booked one night at the RP using our AA membership so got 10% off the cost of the room (you can also get 10% off at the restaurants and CS). We got our tickets from Travel Republic, they're good for 14 days but If I remember rightly they cost the same as the 2 day tickets! I'll let you know how it works out! :-)

Do it ! We stayed a night at RPR this August whilst staying at OKW and loved it ! We dropped our bags there about 9am and checked in and headed straight for the parks, came back about 4pm to get our room. They had free juice and ice lollies in the lobby then which was a nice touch.

Queues for the big rides like spiderman and jaws were over an hour in the afternoon and we walked straight to the front, loved it !

Would like to stay for 2 nights next time so we had time to use the pool,. have a meal etc, we wanted to make the most of the rides !

We booked through hotel.com but probably there are better deals around.

since we hate universal, we didn't do more than sleep in the room, get up early for the early entry and then checked out at 1 pm....

and after this visit to IoA, i doubt we'll ever visit universal again...

we've given them 3 chances, hated them all 3 times...
3 strikes and you're out...

but we did enjoy seeing the HP section of the park...but once is enough..

You hate Universal :scared1::scared1::scared1:

J/K - it's not for everyone. And I REALLY hate Epcot...I'm not even willing to give that the third chance, twice was enough!! :rolleyes1 :rotfl:

Anything in particular that sucked for you? Universal and I briefly fell out after they managed to get my stuff locked in one of their lockers...for two hours...in a tropical storm :furious: - but they made it right with some excellent FOTL passes for us :thumbsup2
