I am going to stay on-site for just one night in September. The rate I am seeing is $219 for the Royal Pacific, pre-paid. Is there any reason to wait? Are rates likely to go down (or up), or are they most likely to stay constant? Any tips for a better deal on a one night stay?

Thanks. :thumbsup2

I would just book now and keep checking every few days. If you get a lower rate just call and they will help you change it.:thumbsup2

This.

I always book first and then watch the rates like a hawk... I find they go up and down all the time.

The other thing is to check the date & rate thread and see what others are getting (and post your rate as well).

If it helps I just booked for $279/night for February @RPR

september is low season.
that seems high for one night.

a standard room without a pool view could be cheaper.

if you stay on a mon, tues, wed, thurs, the rooms rates are generally less.
sometimes sunday also.

weekend rates are always higher no matter what rate season it is.

wait, are you paying rack rate?

If there is a way to not pay rack rate, I'm all ears! I don't have an annual pass, and it just doesn't make sense to get one in my situation. AAA doesn't seem to help. Any other things I'm missing?

I am looking at a single Wednesday night in September.

Thanks everyone for your replies! :worship:

i have ap and the aaa.

i am in the chicago area and i pay $42 for my yearly fees for aaa.

it might be worth it to get aaa if it is a low price in your area.

some dates for the hotels have some odd rules.

during hhn weekends, you can't book a weekend night unless you have a 2 night stay.
there shouldn't be anything like that in september during the week for you.

aaa will give you up to 30% discount off the room rate.
it all depends on the date you book.

you can get 10% discounts off of food and merch in the parks and some of city walk.

i use my aaa for hotel discounts in traveling throughout the states.
i also use it for locking myself out of the car. use it with a discount for ordering flowers on line, etc.

look at the aaa website to see if the discounts for other things make it worth it for you to buy it.

there is also the MIL, military rate for the universal hotels.

don't invest in the ap for a one night stay.
it wouldn't pay off for you in the long run.

the long shot is expedia and name your price for the hotel.
only problem is you won't know if it is one of the uo hotels until your bid is accepted.

if i can think of anything else, i'll return to share with you.

Thanks for the replay, but I wasn't very clear. I have AAA, but when I select that rate on the loews site, it gives me the same $219 price. Should I call the hotel to see if I can get a discount?

yes.

also ask the TM if there are any cheaper rates than the one you have already been quoted.

For some strange reason the Loews website has never given AAA rates for the Universal hotels.

It only gives them for their other locations.

Thanks for the help everybody :thumbsup2

I was able to shave off about $30 by calling and getting the AAA rate. I assumed that the rate wasn't available when I needed to be there as it didn't show up on the Loews site, but that wasn't the case. I might have never known to call.

Now if the rate would only go down more so I can book two nights instead of one... :dogdance:

I could only find the AAA rate on there website. I booked 1 Sunday night back in January for August. I called Monday and got the AAA rate now with a credit on my reservation.:cool1:
