Hi all! About three weeks ago there was a post here on the boards regarding the Future Stay Program. That post got me thinking how I could make the program work for me without flying down for a stay. I called reservations and asked them if I could make a reservation for my DF who lives in Orlando
..call it a Christmas Gift to her, and then let her book my future stay. I was told that the people whose names are on the reservation are the only people allowed to make the future reservation. OK
.so I went to DH, explained everything to him and asked for his suggestions. Now this is why I absolutely love this man
.he said Baby, why dont you just go down there for a night, have a good time and make the reservations for next year! Twist my arm!
DH, calls reservations, books a room at Pop for one night, December 14th, and puts all our names on the reservation. He even went so far as to tell them that because of work obligations we would be arriving separately during the day. No problem they tell him, only one person needs to check in since it is a room only reservation! Next we shopped around for airfare; we found airfare so cheap that we decided that I should bring my DS along for the trip, after all our 2007 trip will be a trip for his 21st birthday! We booked a flight out of Chicago at 7:45 am and a flight back at the same time the next day. Yippee, Im heading to Disney!
So I go into super planning mode. What can I do in a mere day? I decided shopping at Downtown Disney, touring the monorail hotels, and dinner at the Concourse Steakhouse. DS, Allen, who has only been to the Animal Kingdom, is simply excited to see more than he has seen before, the only thing he requested was that we eat normal food.
So first things first, everybody raves about Crocs, and I have seen lots of people wearing them in the parks so I decide I must have Crocs! DH and I make a trip to Dicks Sporting goods, so I can actually try some on before I order a pair of the Disney ones. I come from a family where everybody has tiny feet, heck, my DD only wore a little boys size five so I never thought my feet would have a problem with any shoe until now. I have come to the conclusion that my feet are just not made for Crocs. The kids size 3 gave me about ¼ inch of room on my heel, but my big toe touched the top of the shoe. Then the sales person brought me the adult small, which was way too big. The strap was useless, and the shoe was so wide I kept walking out of it. They didnt have an extra small to try, but they told me it was the same as the kids size three. So its official my feet are too freakish for Crocs.
DH senses that I am depressed about the Crocs, so he decides to call Southwest and change our return flight home, to give us another day in The Magic. The operator at Southwest tells him that to change the flight will cost $130 each. That was a little to high a price to switch things around, but not being one to give up he goes to Southwest online and finds out that if you make a switch online, that there is no cost involved! Now we are on a flight coming home at 10 pm, so for all practical purposes I have gained an entire day to plan! I ask DS, Allen, if he could go to any of the parks, which one would he like to go to. Magic Kingdom he says! Now I am truly in my happy place! I LOVE the Magic Kingdom, if I could live there, I would. This also means that I can plan more meals, and that can only mean one thing TONGA TOAST! I gleefully pick up my cell phone and call Disney Dining, (which is programmed into my cell phone you know, just in case!) and make a reservation for Kona Café. The reservation agent set up that for me and confirmed my dinner reservation for the 14th, but she had us eating at Boma! Whoa, I didnt make a reservation for Boma! DH hears this and tells me to just thank the lady and hang up the phone. Huh? DH, had called Disney Dining earlier and changed my Concourse Steakhouse reservation to Boma, because he knew I really wanted to eat there instead. You see, DH, and DS are really picky eaters basically they like meat, potatoes and corn, so I never thought to even ask Allen if he would go to Boma. DH told me they had talked about it and decided that Allen would try it for me. Isnt that sweet?
DH also gave me some extra money to bring home a Christmas Present for our puppy girl, Lilo from Disney Tails. As you can see she is already for her first Christmas.
So now, we leave a week from today. I am frantically watching the 10 Day weather forecast and I see that when we leave there are supposed to be showers here in Chicago and that there is a 60% chance of rain in Orlando the day after that. I will be keeping an eye on that until we leave and hope for the best. Meanwhile, got the cameras all set; the overnight bags out of the attic and I am going to pack when I get home from work today. I gotta tell you I am so pumped for this trip! DH and I are taking DD to Disneyland (staying offsite) in February, for a combination birthday trip; check out the Columbia College Semester in L.A. program trip. DD, Kelly doesnt want a set plan, she wants to wake up each day and decide what she wants to do. I gotta tell you, I am having a real hard time with that, so much so that Kelly has suggested that I join Disney Planners Anonymous, huh? Like they would need to have a group like that!
