Hi!! I am still undecided about buying into DVC. But I have one final question for you, which might well swing the vote!!:lmao:

A bit of background, so you know where I am coming from. I am planning the 'trip of a lifetime' next Christmas (Dec 2010/Jan 2011) - I say 'once in a lifetime' as my DH is a postal worker and has been granted one off special permission to vacation over the holiday period. As we are in the UK, we have already been able to book our resorts and we have already booked 5 nights in the Poly (MK view) and 7 nights in the Beach Club (std room).

I am considering cancelling the hotels now, and using the $4500(approx) towards my DVC. I have worked out the points and I can see that I would be able to get a MK view studio at BLT to replace the poly part of the vacation, but I am really looking forward to the Beach Club and still want to stay there.

Therefore, my question (sorry for the wait!!:lmao:) is - How likely are my chances of getting a studio or 1 bed at the Beach Club for 1 week from 15th Dec - 23rd Dec at the 7 months booking window???

I know it wouldn't be guaranteed, but if you have any thoughts they would be most appreciated!!:thumbsup2:thumbsup2

Welcome!

By your post, I am assuming you are considering buying in at BLT. Have you considered buying at both?

You could start off with the points you need at BLT and then do an add on at BCV. Or, buy BCV resale, and then call to add on at BLT. You have plenty of time to do this before next January, when you 11 month window opens.

This way, you could book both at the 11 month window. Of course, that would mean that you would have points at both places for the future. If you don't see BCV being something that you want to own, then the plan does not work.

As far as availability, I think it depends. The weeks around Christmas are pretty full as it is a very popular time for DVC. I have never tried to stay at BCV and am new to DVC myself. I bought because I love being near the MK so BLT was the perfect fit. But, if you buy a enough points for the whole stay (or enough to do the trip with banking/borrowing), you could just book BLT and waitlist.

Good luck!!

Ahhhh, your trip does sound heavenly!! :cloud9: One year, we'll be able to do Disney for 2 weeks at Christmas...I can only dream about how wonderful it would be.

As to your question, BCV is one of the smaller DVC resorts and, given the popularity of the resort because of its location to Epcot and DHS and because it hosts the best pool at Disney, I think that it's going to be tough...but not impossible. There is a thread on the DVC Planning Board which lists availability for various weeks at various DVC resorts for the year - - maybe look at that thread for availability this year to give yourself an idea of what may be available next year?? The only thing you can do is try...and if it's not available when you first call, ask to be waitlisted and hopefully that will come through. Good luck!!

Christmas tends to be very popular, so the chances are lower than they would normally be. If I were you, I would put that 4500 toward DVC, rather than a one-off trip. :)

Buy where you love to stay.

Most folks only get to vacation once a year or maybe once every other year. Why take a chance on not being able to stay at your favorite resort just because you bought DVD's current property. Just because a resort is new, doesn't make it the best.

As more and more members are added, getting some reservations at the more popular times at 7 months will be next to impossible. DVC has added 100,000 members in the last year and a half, and I don't see it slowing down much.

I agree with what everyone said above and don't want to give you false hope, but I was able to book a 1 BR at BCV last Christmas at the 7 month mark. We booked 12/21-12/27, and waitlisted for the 28th, which did come through in early August. The last 3 nights of our stay, we stayed on cash (out of points!) in a BC studio and then a BCV 2 BR.

So it's just one of those - who knows things - we were successful, you may or may not be.

thank you everyone!!!:thumbsup2

I had originally toyed with the idea of buying into both BLT and BCV, and that is probably my 'ideal' option as I really like the idea of doing a split stay between MK resort/Epcot resort:cloud9:

I know that I definitely want to buy into BLT but I have never stayed in an Epcot resort but I love the idea of walking to Epcot and getting the boat to DHS!!:thumbsup2

However DH loves AKL and would like to buy at AKV, so I am toying with splitting the contract between BLT and AKV - hopefully then if we can't get BCV next Christmas I won't be too disappointed if we have a savannah view at AKV instead!!:thumbsup2

I liked the look of the initial pictures of Kidani pool, and it looked like a mini water park - am I right, does it have something similar to SAB???:confused3:thumbsup2:thumbsup2

Perhaps I will just ring DVC direct and see if they have any BCV resales, and if they would consider a split purchase between that and BLT??

I am going round and round in circles as you can see!!:rotfl:

Good luck!! I do know that I have read that someone on the boards here did get a BLT and AKV split but definitely find out about BCV as well!

Keep us posted as what you decide!!! I love to read the happy "I am an owner" posts!!!
