One more free birthday admission question

Ok, so I read through the beginning of the enormous free admission thread and didn't find the answer to my question. I know that the free one park ticket can be upgraded. Can it be upgrade to just add hopping? If so, can you just pay the extra at the ticket booth or do you need to upgrade it after entering the park? Thanks

I believe you can pay the difference to do this upgrade. You can ask at the ticket booth or guest services when you get your ticket.

Q: Can I upgrade my free admission?

A: Yes, you can be upgraded to a ticket type of equal or greater value. However, you are responsible for any additional cost, and the new ticket may be used only by you.


I don't think Disney would make you wait in two lines unnecessarily, you must be able to upgrade when you first go to a ticket booth.

Yes, my niece did this on her birthday. She was only there for the day, but wanted the park hopper. The free ticket and the upgrade were both handled at the ticket window at the same time.
