One more Bit of Advice?

I called CRO this evening and they reserved a 1 bedroom villa at WLV for 6 nights during the period we will be there. Yes, the lady said as long as we cancel within five days we would get a full refund. I was honest with her and told her I was using the reservation as a safety net in case our DVC membership was held up or we could not get into a 1 bedroom. She was fine with that. The question I have which she was not sure of is this : Once everything is okay and we are part of the DVC family could I use my points at the room which I have now reserved through CRO.

Hi, Nlihte. I believe the answer to your question is 'no'. The rooms booked through CRO actually come from a different inventory than the villas we get from MS. There have been situations when there wasn't availability using points, but CRO still had villas available for cash.

There may be situations where there is some cross-over in inventory if one sells out, but I wouldn't count on it.

this is correct, there are certain rooms that are used for cash, and certain rooms for points, dvd owns 4% of the rooms, for maintance and refurbs. cro cannot book rooms using your points,
only ms. once rooms are released from ms to cro, ms cannot call cro to get them back, i do know on some occasions ms had to call the resort direct to check on available of rooms.

i made a ressies for cash because i was short points, but i didnt want to lose the room until i rented points, ms said that i could switch out cash for points, but as of now the room i have for points is not the same room that i will be staying on points, i will have to move. but soon as i switch out cas for points and if the room is still available for points, i wont have to move.
