Do the dolls or the year usually sell out? When is the absolute latest you would wait to order the girl of the year for a Christmas present?

Thanks!

Yes, they do sell out. Nicki was sold out last year around the beginning of December. She and her accessories were going like crazy on ebay. I would imagine some people who were unable to get her last year are going to order Mia earlier this year. I might wait another month or so to see if a free shipping code comes out, but no longer than that.

We bought the doll of the year, Kailey, for our DD 4 years ago. Her friends are STILL complaining that their parents promised her to them and then told her that she was sold out!!! I would order early if that is the doll you really want. Actually, some of the regular dolls and clothes sell out the closer you get to the holidays.:)

Buy earlier than later! When Marisol came out we waited and ordered in November .. she was backordered and I got her only a few days before Christmas!!!!

Our daughter has both Marisol and Nicki. She got them for her birthday, two years in a row, in October. I know they both sold out weeks before Xmas.
She wants Mia this year. Once again, she is getting her for her birthday.;)

I wouldn't wait until much after Thanksgiving, or earlier if you can, to get Mia.

Don't wait too long if her heart is set on Mia. Last year DD was wishy washy about wanting Nicki. So, I decided not to order her. Then DD visited Santa, at the mall, and told him: "I really, really want Nicki." Well, it was too late for me (I mean Santa) to get her. She was already sold out at AG and selling for obscene amounts on Ebay. I am still upset that I didn't order her when I could have. I reminded DD that AG dolls were only sold at AG stores & even Santa had to buy them there because the elves couldn't make them. She handled it well, but I know she still thought he would bring her one even though she knew they were sold out.

My dd wants Mia for Christmas as well, and I bought her during the last free shipping code, and some of her accessories. I was worried if I waited, it might be sold out...so I bought it, and figured if dd changed her mind, I can always sell it later.

Well I just ordered Mia and accessories for Mia. :faint:

Yes, my 7 year old daughter (8 in November) decided she "really, really, really" wants Mia for her birthday or Christmas. She knows that Mia is the doll of the year so she's a little nervous that they will run out. ;)

I told her AG items are very expensive and we may not be able to buy it for her. She said she understood. I'm not sure if she's iffy on Santa so I asked her if Santa makes AG stuff and she thought for a minute and said no.

She thinks Mrs. Claus dresses up in a disguise and brings a few elves with her who are also in disguise (the elves wear hats with the spinny things on the top, I guess kind of the like the hats Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum wear. Not much of a disguise if you ask me. ;)) and takes a trip to the AG store in NYC. She also thinks that Mr. & Mrs. Claus have a "special account" at the AG store that enables them to buy so many number of items from AG on discount for Christmas. But b/c Santa and his wife have this credit account, they can't buy for every little girl who wants them so they have to budget and only buy what they can. I said that I agreed, that's probably how they do it. She wants to get her list in early b/c she figures if you get the list in first, you will be one of the lucky ones to get the doll. I guess kind of like first come first served. ;) :rotfl:

Ahhh, kids.:rotfl:

As I stated above I ordered Mia and her accessories so now I don't have to worry about them. However, I was just looking at the site and a couple of the other things my daughter wants are on backorder. :headache:

My mother and mother in law are going to buy Kit and Ruthie but now I can't decide if I should just order them now or if it would be safe to wait for a shipping code since we have quite a few things to order between us. I guess what I'm trying to find out is if Kit and Ruthie are popular?

The AG shipping prices are kind of high considering what we are paying for the items.

I'd like to know about Ruthie as well. My oldest wants her "so bad" and my youngest has mentioned her as well. It seems a little silly to me to have two Ruthies at home, but I know it wouldn't go over well if one got one and not the other. My girls both believe that Santa can make extras if the stores run out, so I can't get off the hook on this one.

I'm such a nervouse nellie that I would just order it. I've been reading an AG FORUM and people seem to have lists of items they are wanting to order but not until the free ship code comes out.

I gave in and ordered. DD wants Kit's treehouse for Christmas and also wants Kit and Ruthie for her borthday (3 weeks before Christmas.) She had a hard time deciding between Kit and Mia so Santa is going to surprise her with Kit in the treehouse (good thing my other girls are little and their toys are cheap!) She's getting for Mia for her birthday from us and Ruthie from Grandma and Grandpa. Anyway, those things plus two Bitty Baby outfits ran about $45 in shipping. Yes it would have been nice to have free shipping but it's not worth the worry of not having what I want. I've seen lots of stuff backordered from AG. You (general you) need to decide your comfort level and go from there.

I'm one of those holding out for a code, but I'm not ordering Kit/ Ruthie nor their accessories. Seeing that Kit's movie came out this year and the DVD is coming out late October, I believe that their items incl. the dolls will be one of the hot sellers this year.

This is exactly why I was thinking the Kit and possibly Ruthie dolls may sell out. I just went ahead and placed the order and now I'm done. At least I think I'm done. ;)

My SIL works as an order processor at AG and she said they were told that Kit's and Ruthie things will probably be sold out - because of the movie, so many people want them.
