Looking for the most affordable way to stay on wdw property or near by for a one month stay.

Thanks in advance for any information/tips/ideas you can provide me with :flower3:

How comfortable do you want to be? A few years ago...you could stay at the Comfort Inn on Palm Parkway for $35/night...BUT you had to share the room with cockroaches. With that said, I like Palm Parkway the best of any off property hotels because you just cross the road to get onto Disney property.

Here are some tips:

Go in off season
Look in discount books, budget boards, priceline, etc.
IF staying on property...GET AN ANNUAL PASS!
We've stayed on property in a value for about $75/night.
DO Keep in mind that without an AP, parking for off-property guests is $14/day.

Matter of fact...even if you stay off property... GET AN ANNUAL PASS!

IF you have enough time, I wonder how well you would work out in purchasing a DVC contract and using multiple year points. If this is a one time thing, sell. Purchase RESELL. Its not likely, but you could actually come out ahead doing something like that.

If you fly into Orlando, look at the fly/hotel combination packages on travelocity and the like.

Looking forward to comments.

We have AP ;)

I'd prefer to stay on site or very nearby, looking into Bonnet Creek.

Hmmm, was thinking of DVC, we've been going to wdw for 24 years and still don't own :sad2: Would I be able to use points as soon as I purchase?

Our stay is in July.

if you buy from Disney (expensive) - then yes

if you buy from a reseller no - it could take anywhere from a few weeks to a few month (this is much, much cheaper)

If you buy retail, then it won't be a problem.

If you buy resale, then you need to purchase within the next month to 6 weeks, I would guess...and then assume you will get Saratoga Springs.

You can't make reservations until you get through closing which takes about a month through resell.

I suggest you ask on the DVC boards if you could credibly get something that you would find acceptable if you bought in the next few weeks. If you are seriously considering DVC, you need to check those boards out anyway.

I will say that we have been very happy with our purchase. We bought 100 points at Boarddwalk in 2006 and absolutely love it. As much as we thought we would save money, it has just meant that we go to WDW much more. PS, that's not that bad of a thing either. :rolleyes1

BUT...DVC is not for everybody. For one thing, you DO NOT get housekeeping every day.

I disagree. I think you still have time, but you will have to GET ON WITH IT.

At the same time...you need to take the amount of time that you need to make that decision.

I'm sure other's will chime in.

In early dec 2012 we got Hilton lake buena vista for £81 a night it's across the road from downtown disney has its own buses to the parks starting early, and was very nice. Bus stop outside for sea world universal etc.
(Booked with hotels.com)- it may have been a time specific deal mind.

Are you in the US or UK?

If a UK visitor I can offer a suggestion, but if not it's a bit pointless so I won't bore everyone with it just yet.
