One Mom's Stroller Odysee

PA Princess...the website mentions a parent bottle holder. What side bottle does it hold and is it sturdy? When it folds up, is it long and skinny like a typical umbrella stroller? Thank you!

goofy4wdw2:

The bottle holder is a pocket on the back of the hood, and it holds any standard size water bottle...at least we have not had an issue with any fitting. It also holds my daugter's sippy cups by Gerber fine.

Yes, when it folds it is skinny and long like an umbrella stroller. HTH

I am so happy you found the right stroller. We are right now doing the same thing but we don't have any stores near us. Closest is 2 hours away! So I am going online also.

I need a stroller for my 3 yr old who is autistic but likes to be in a stroller for the comfort.

What is the max weight for the esprie? I can't afford a Mclaren so I need something under $100.

Thanks for the great review! :Pinkbounc

We have the Combi City Savvy for our DS2.5. He really likes it, so do we. I think max weight is 45lbs for it. Is he very tall? My only concern is that if he is, his feet may hit the wheels. My son is about 26lbs and 30". We paid less than $100 for it at babyage.com. It is GREAT at WDW.

I was lucky to receive my Mac Triumph at my baby shower. I specifically asked for it for WDW trips and was so surprised someone actually bought it for me!

We have recently started using it with our 5 month old for trips to WalMart and such. He LOVES it. But then again, he is nosy and likes to sit more upright and see what is going on. He is also a rather large and sturdy 5 month old, so he fits well in the stroller, but with plenty of room to grow. Our problem was he can't quite sit yet in the carts but he outgrew his infant carrier, and this has solved the problem!

The other thing I love about the Mac is that it is tall enough for me. Not having to hunch over is great! Plus it drives really well. I can understand your hesitance because of the price, but to me it is well worth it and we will get a TON of use out of the stroller. Glad you found a more affordable alternative that works for you

Hey, I just could run into you on one of those Walmart trips since we are also from Reading, PA :-)

If this was our first stroller or first baby, I would not have hesitated to spend more...our first stroller (a Combi) for first ds we bought over 10 years ago and we spent $130 at that time. But this is last baby in a series of 4 and we do have an every day stroller that we like (she loves to have a snack and water in her cup holder and tray, and the large basket is fabulous for shopping trips) that was simply too big and heavy for Disney. I think this is what makes stroller shopping such a challenge...every need and situation is SO different for each family.

LovesWDW I sympathize with you!! I have a giant 2.5 year old too and looking for a stroller is driving me crazy. Everything I put him in his head is sticking out or his feet are touching the ground. The MacLarens and this Espirit I haven't gotten to test drive locally. Every stroller I put him in he just doesn't look comfortable. My son weighs 34 pounds and is 38.5 inches tall (2.5 years) Everyone thinks I'm crazy to be looking at strollers. My problem is I got rid of my duo glider (too bulky), my double jogger is awesome but not for buses at disney) and my single jogger is still pretty bulky for disney. He is my youngest of 3 and I would just rent a stroller but then the 6 year old and 4 year old would want to ride in it because of the novelty (otherwise they are great walkers). So if I rent a double it will be about $100 and it seems like such a waste. This Esprit sounds interesting but I'm wondering how long we will last in it if its up to 40lbs..... :confused3 :confused3 I've read about every thread on this issue and can't make a decision and our trip is at the end of September....

Ok, I've been debating over the stroller issue and driving my family crazy to figure this out since we found out we were going to Disney this December. I knew we were definitely going to need a stroller for my DD 2 and it didn't matter if I took our currently used Graco single stroller. My concern is for our DS 6. He did not last at the zoo recently and we opted to take DD out of the stroller because she was lighter to carry and placed DS in the stroller. I do not want to carry one of our children for our week trip at WDW!!

We will be taking our single stroller with us for the airport, etc. and frankly my DD loves to be in it and I couldn't imagine going anywhere without a stroller!

My question is, what do I do about a stroller for my DS? Like many of you, we have several different strollers and I have a Graco double stroller. I'm wondering if I should take it (although the closing lock is broken and Graco says there isn't a replacement part!) or do I wait and rent a double stroller at the parks? From the photos, they look like they are made of hard plastic and would be very uncomfortable and hot for my little ones. Is there a local vendor outside of Disney that rents strollers? UGH, this is the one thing that is driving me crazy!!

You can rent strollers and other baby gear from a baby's best friend. Here's the link:
http://www.abbf.com/index.html. I rented toys from them for our last trip and they were great to work with.

I understand the whole stroller drama, believe me! We're taking our big ol' Graco back to Disney again in September because I can't live with out the snack try for DS and the big basket and cupholders for me! I read all the stroller threads, too! (oh yeah, and I'm also from PA -- do I sense a trend here?)

If you are looking at plunking down over $100 on a Disney rental, you can always buy one of the more expensive strollers (like the Maclarens or Combis) and then resell it once you get home. I see them all the time on Ebay and such. Just an idea for those that are hesitant about the initial costs. It really wasn't that bad taking our Graco Metrolite on the busses and will be even easier with the Mac, so I would never spend $100 on a disney rental.

For all you PA'ers, I am the one at the Temple Super WalMart on Saturday mornings with my Mac Triumph :teeth:

Okay... I'm brand new to the DIS boards so forgive me if ya'll have discussed this before! LOL! Newbies are always annoying!

Anway... we go to DW on a weekly basis... with our 3 1/2 year old and our 1 1/2 year old... and we usually take 2 simple umbrella strollers (those that come with shades!) and a backpack...
It's so much easier to travel light...

Plus, once we even had a stroller stolen at DW! So we really hate to take anything that's too expensive and risk losing it!

Just our experience!

This hits close to home! I'm in search of a good stroller to haul my 38lb. 5yo dd in for our upcoming Disney trip. I would love to find one with a decent basket, and that doesn't fold weird (like my last monster stroller! :sad2: ). I live an hour from the closest BRU, so I'm dying to get there this weekend and see if I can find anything. I'm really afraid to try to buy online, when alot of strollers don't even show a maximum weight! Disney take me away!!

Dear PA Mom,

I am so going thru what you are right now! I truly don't know which one to buy the Britax or the Quest. I can't go try them out because I live in a very rural community and the closest babies R us is in SLC almost 4 hours away.

I will have to buy online or off ebay. The price the Maclearn is just so staggering as you know. I don't know if it would be worth it but everyone just raves about them. Honestly, we don't have that kind of money for a stroller but I would if it would make DS comfortable.

I am still on the fence but must decide soon. Thanks for the great thread and I didn't mean to hijack this, I just really am walking in your shoes and hope I can make a sane decision.

:Pinkbounc

You've probably made your decision by now, but I wanted to plug our stroller. We love Kidco strollers. They used to be the US distributor for Maclaren and, when their deal fell apart, they started making, er, very similarly designed strollers for a whole lot less money. You can get one for around $100, esp. on ebay. Ours has been to Disney three times and has held up fantastically, it's super light ... we're thrilled with it. The main reason I bring it up is that they are rated to 50 lbs. Our big just-turned-6 DS is 50 inches and 50 lbs and can ride in it just fine (though his head is starting to hit the sunshade!)
