Thanks to someone here on the DIS who recommended One man's dream at MGM. My family and I visited it and we really liked it. I have always been a big fan of Walt and I learned some new facts about him here. My kids were fascinated with the exhibits showing the different castles at the parks and what old rides used to look like. We all enjoyed the movie at the end that told how Walt built his empire and how he endured some setbacks.

I agree! My family and I have been enjoying this wonderful attraction since its opening in 2001 (?). I have fond memories of watching The Wonderful World of Disney every Sunday night for years. My favorite(most touching) piece in the exhibit is the cartoon of the crying Mickey Globe that was in the newspaper the day that Walt died.

We'll be visiting again in less than a week!! :cool1:

This is one of my personal favorites! I remember wanting to see it ... and we were going to go in just as the CM outside was saying "It's nice and cool in here!" to get people to go in. I was surprised that so many people bypass such an interesting attraction! I go every year and am never bored. Both Daxx and DS8 also enjoy it!!!!

I loved this exhibit (being a true Disney fan) when I saw it in 2002. I am taking my niece, who has never been to WDW, on our next trip. This exhibit will be a great way to for her to understand Walt and his motivationb behind the creation of the World.

Thanks for reminding me of this MGM exhibit.

We went inside during our last trip and because the movie was about to start we rushed through the exhibits, and didn't really get to see much. I was so disappointed to never get back by there. I am definitely planning more time in there next year.

It's a great exhibit-we enjoy it very much. It was fun to show the kids what we enjoyed as youngsters.

I'm glad to hear it is still open. It was originally planned to be a temporary exhibit for the 100 Years of Magic celebration, to close when that ended. But there were a lot of requests to keep it open, and WDW listened, so it was decided to keep it open until early 2005. Perhaps WDW has seen the light and will make it "permanent". I hope so.

During the 100 Years celebration, there was more museum-type "stuff" in it that was loaned on a temporary basis, like an original multiplane camera. A lot of stuff had to be returned. But I think they found some other items to bring in as replacements, and it's still a very worthwhile experience.

this is a great attraction for any hard core disney fan.

the movie always gets me drippy in the eye.

I know this is in MGM, but can you please tell me exactly where. I missed it last year when we were there. I don't want to miss it this year.

I think this is one of the most underrated attractions in the park. I love this show and try to go see it every time we visit. I think it's located down the street from the Playhouse Disney building. But I'm sure someone else would know for sure.

It'a close to Who Wants to be a Millionaire. It is a really great exhibit and I am glad they decided to keep it going. I wish more people knew about it because it's never really crowded inside. Hope they keep it open forever!

I totally agree with ya'll!! We just did One Man's Dream for the first time on our recent trip...we were headed to WWTBAM and stopped in just to see. It was great...all the momentos of Walt's life and how he brought the magic to so many people. To be honest I wasn't sure about the movie, when we started inside, but it was great! I even became teary eyed when I realized what a great father Walt must have been...after all it was from his desire to be able to participate in fun activities with his daughters that his dream for Disneyland grew and grew into WDW, DL Paris, Tokyo, Tokyo Seas, and very soon Hong Kong! Wow! Whatta man!!

i love this too! :flower: the film at the end always makes me teary, DH always rolls his eyes at me! ;)

I have those fond memories, also. We always made sure to watch that show every week.

That editorial cartoon gets to me every time. It really makes you realize how Walt touched the entire world with his magical ideas. I sometimes forget that and only think his dreams and creations had borders within the USA but he really was a universal figure. If ever there was a goodwill ambassador, it was Walt and his pal Mickey.

I showed my kids the multiplane camera and told them how it made cartoons 3 dimensional instead of flat drawings.

Also, I showed them the pictures of the original Mickey Mouse costumes that people used to wear (like the ones Walt borrowed from the Ice Capades). We laughed at how ugly these early costumes were. I'm sure there were many little kids that were totally freaked out when they saw the ol' Mic coming down the street at them!

We went in this just because we were sooooo hot and stayed to watch the film. Very interesting!!! Glad we ducked in. :cool1:

We love this too! It brings tears to my eyes every time we go into the attraction because it brings back so many memories for me. Disney has always been a huge part of my life since I was very young and I can remember seeing Walt Disney on TV. I especially love when he was talking about EPCOT and how he wanted to make a town. I wanted to live there soooo bad!! LOL!! My Mother laughed when we became one of first DVC members. I finally own a piece of the magic!! Love this attraction. We'll go in again next visit.

I just LOVE that attraction. I admire Walt Disney so much and learning about his struggles is inspiring.

I bought the DVD "The Man Behind The Myth" (I am almost positive that is what it is called) on our May trip and it is so interesting. It is about 1 1/2 hours long documentary about Walt - his life and the Disney Company.
