My husband and I went to Disney this past May (his first time). We had a blast!! Originally we were planning that to be our one trip there before kids. But we had so much fun, we are thinking of doing it again before kids. Do you think its worth it, or should be we get out and sightsee other places before kids roll into the picture?

I'm guessing you'll spend LOTS and LOTS of time at Disney once kids come along.

Personally, I would get back to either London or Bermuda, or take a cruise to Alaska. Any of those things are less kid-oriented, and you're less likely to do them once you're toting a diaper bag.

London is a magnificent city-- very American-friendly, full of things to do and abolutely full of history. I've been there twice and would go back today if I could.

I agree the world (not Disneyworld) is a big place and while I love all things Disney there is so much to see elsewhere. Travelling with kids to other places can be done - Cullens first trip at 10 months was to New Zealand from the UK so a very long trip. So don't automatically rule out travelling to other places with a family it gives them exposure to other cultures, foods, sights and people. But given you will most likely make trips to WDW with a family I would go somewhere different before the kids arrive on the scene.

Cheers Kirsten - PS New Zealand is nice (yes I am bias I am a kiwi)

My niece is currently spending a semester in Australia. She made a trip to New Zealand... from all reports, you're right.

As you can see from my signature, that's what happened with me and DH. We had our honeymoon, first anniversary and last trip before kids there!! I know we'll go lots of times with the kids (hopefully!) but it's such a different vacation then. I say go and have a blast.....do some nice dinners, a big night out, some romantic things.

If you both loved it and want to go again, I say go for it. It is very different with kids. SeaWorld is even more different and challenging with young toddlers, so make sure you go there and feed the dolphins if you can. If I had it to do over, I would have done the dolphins cove thing (I think that is what it's called) and spent 10 days down there. I enjoy that type of vacation more than sight-seeing. We went to Aruba for our honeymoon, and I was ready to come home by day 4. I couldstay at Disney for 2 or 3 weeks if I could afford it!

If I were to take one last trip before kids, I would go to Las Vegas or a couples only all inclusive resort. We did both of those things before kids and we dream about what it would be like to go back again. It won't happen until the kids are a lot older, so for now we keep going back to Disney.

I think it depends on what sort of vacations you plan to take after you have kids (and realize that may change once they're actually here!). For me, I would choose to go elsewhere because Disney is a great place to take young children, too, while there are tons of great places that don't fit into that category. We also have the benefit of going with grandparents sometimes, so that we get to do some of the things that we would do if it was just the two of us while DS is with the grandparents. I don't see us going on a vacation of more than 2 or 3 nights alone before our children are school-aged, so I'm glad that we got to see some more 'exotic' places before we had children. I'm honestly not sure when (if!) I'll feel comfortable leaving the country, even when my children are being watched by our very capable parents.

I'd lean towards doing somethign else for your last trip without kids. DH and I went to Scotland, and had a wonderful time visiting all fo the castles. (And sending back postcards to all of my nieces about the "real-life" princesses who had lived there.)

It depends on whether or not you travel other places besides Disney.

My husband and I went on 6 vacations prior to kids - 3 of them were to Disney and 3 of them were to New England. I really wish we had substituted at least one WDW trip with a trip to the CA coast or a trip to a tropical resort! Disney is such an easy vacation to plan with kids - peaceful drives down coastal highways with stops to marvel at the scenery are not so great with kids!

Who would think that I would be saying this (Please don't tell anyone) I would go somewhere else... A couples only resort or even a carribean resort that allows children.

My husband and I spent our Honeymoon at WDW because it was payed for... we thought that we could do a week at one of the US Virgin Islands after the honeymoon but before we got pregnant... except that we got pregnant on our honeymoon. :confused3 who knew???

Now we talk about when we might be able to make a trip like that - I don't like to be so far away from our little girl, so I won't agree to go out of the country without her... and I don't feel safe taking her our of the continental US when she is so young.

Samantha (our Disneymoon Souviner) is going to be 6 months old on 12/3 and we leave for WDW on 12/8... we love it there... but if I had the choice again, I would have choosen to go somewhere else.

We went twice before kids and then couldn't wait until we could go back with them. Our daughters are 3 and 4 now and Disney seems like our only vacation option besides Grandma's house. Everything else is just too much trouble at this point. We took them to Disney World last month and had a blast!

So I vote that travel to somewhere exotic while you can. You will only be paying for 2 airline tickets and 2 meals so take advantage while you can!

Good luck and have fun either way!
