One last (silly) question about HOJO - I promise ;)

The closer my trip gets, the more random my questions become.

Today's question... for those who have stayed at the HOJO and used the pool/Castaway Cove with a toddler, is it an "accident ready to happen"? I have a very active lil' one who LVES the water. I'm just worried that with all of her excitement, that she'll take a dive (and not in the pool). Do you think that water shoes are neccessary or are they not needed? I'd love to hear any feedback from those with toddlers... or from anybody for that matter.

There is a toddler wading pool that has a gradually sloped entry and only gets about a foot deep I think. You didn't state how old she is, but I think there's a height requirement for the water slides, so those are probably out, and the force of the dump bucket *could* either knock down or seriously frighten a tiny child. The only "deep" water in the Castaway Cove area is the jacuzzi.

I would recommend the water shoes for traction. My son, who was 6 at the time, slipped and fell (he was running ) and bruised his foot pretty badly on a curb that kind of partitions the area. The concrete is very wet from the dump bucket and everyone going between the slides. If she is in fact big enough for the slides, water shoes might act as brakes to keep her from gliding down the slide though.

The grown up pool is in a completely separate area from Castaway Cove.

Thanks for the information; it's very helpful! She is only 2, so it looks like we'll be staying away from a few of their features. Nonetheless, I know she's going to have a great time.

Also when it is about to dump the water all the big kids stop what they're doing and run fast to get wet. Most of the time they are running so fast and might not notice your little one. My boys are older but small and I was worried about them as the "bigger" kids were playing pretty rough.

We used water shoes as well, just to keep from slipping under excitement. But overall the toddler area is safe. Have Fun!
