One Last Muddy Q

I got an email for muddy participants yesterday in which they say that you must wear shoes in the mud pit. That is fine, but has anyone figured out a way to switch their shoes before the mud? I have an old pair of running shoes that I don't mind ruining, but my teammate only has one pair of running shoes that are still pretty new. Any suggestions?

You could carry an extra pair of shoes on the bike and switch in the bike corral.

Or tuck them away in or near the bike corral just before the mud pit.
