We are planning on going to IOA, mostly to get to know WWOHP. Secondly, because we liked the park the last time we were there.

Now, I was thinking that it's been a while since we've last visited UO. All of a sudden I feel I need to go.

We should be going Sep 29 (Wed) or Sep 30 (Thu).

As far as I could learn week days are now slower than weekends, so that would be ok.

People with experience on Universal Parks, is it possible to do the main rides of both in one day?

Thanks,

Mx

If you're trying to see WWoHP I would say no...you couldn't do both parks in a single day. If you aren't interested in WWoHP I would say yes. Obviously the wait times for WWoHP are still fairly high but not as bad as summer. I think it would continue to decrease but not to the point you could just walk right in and not have to wait. You could end up spending a lot of your day at WWoHP so just keep that in mind. You shouldn't have any problems at the Studios except September 30th...that's a night when HHN is staged so the Studios will close at 5pm on that day.

what we usually do is spend one day in IOA and 1 day at US and if we go on a third day then we pick the best from each park and sandwich the parks!

So it is possible to do the best of each park in one day but this will depend on a few things such as who you are going with (kids will slow you down), if you plan on shopping, where you eat and also the crowds at WWOHP!

September is when we go so it is pretty quiet but i would give yourself two days if you can

I would say it depends on what you are willing to skip. We did both parks in one day recently. But we skipped all of the roller coaster type rides. So we really only did half a park at each one...

Thank you very much for your replies.

Special thanks to Metro West, I wasn't taking into account that there was a Halloween Party on the 30th.

I think we will stick to the original plan and visit only IOA.

One question: Do they sell cross merchandise, I mean does IOA carry items from Universal Studios?

Many thanks to everyone

Yes...you can usually buy the same stuff in both parks with a few execeptions. There is also a large Universal Studios store in CityWalk that sells merchandise from both parks.

Oh and you're welcome...I hope you have a great time!

Glad to see this post. We're wondering the same thing about 2 parks/1 day. Not really into giant coasters, the main attraction would be WWOHP. So we were thinking to hit that & then go over to the other side.??? :confused3 We're going on 10/24. Does that sound like a plan? :confused3

You could definitely do that. We Did Dr Seuss, Harry Potter, and then Jurassic park. Then went over to Universal and did the kids area, MIB, and Jaws. We were about done around 330 that day.

Thanks for your response!! :goodvibes Just checked & found HHN will be that night, so if we still want to do both I guess we'd start out at US since that closes at 5pm. Then go over to IOL. We'll see....still have some time to think about it.

I noticed you did Jurassic park. Do you get soaked on that??

ive done 2 parks in 1 day, before HP of course, but i plan to do it next week also. one park closes at 5, the other at 6 and we got the front of the line passes so we will be able to bypass alot of wait time, if you want to do 2 parks you have to realize its mroe for the rides than taking in the shows or anything and know that you will still miss things so you need to pick and choose

That's a funny ride in that you can't make a blanket statement that you will get soaked. It depends on the weight of the car and where the weight is concentrated. Sometimes I've been soaked but most times I'm just splashed a little. I guess you can say it's a different ride every time. ;)

Sorry.....I have another question. :goodvibes
Can you start at one park, go to the other & then back to the first??? Thinking about WWOHP first thing in am, going to the other park & then back when it closes for HHN. Is that possible? Oh....guess I should check the closing time on 10/24 for IOA before making plans!! :rotfl:

Yes...if you have the park hopping tickets...which are the one day two park tickets. You could go to the Studios in the morning and then IOA for a while and then back to the Studios before it closes at 5pm so you could do Stay & Scream. The park hours for IOA on 10/24 are 9am to 8pm.

We just went on Sept. 2and was able to do both parks no problem there was hardly a wait for anything:cool1:. These are the rides we did:
Universal Studios
Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit- my 12yr old said this was the best ride ever
The Simpsons Ride
Shrek 4-D
Revenge of the Mummy-twice
MEN IN BLACK
E.T. Adventure
JAWS
Islands of Adventure
The Amazing Adventures of Spider-Man
The Incredible Hulk Coaster
Popeye & Bluto's Bilge-Rat Barges- soaking wet after this one
Dudley Do-Right's Ripsaw Falls
Jurassic Park River Adventure
Flight of the Hippogriff
Dragon Challenge
Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey-Loved this ride and all of the rest of WWOHP
The Cat In The Hat
The High in the Sky Seuss Trolley Train Ride-oddly enough the longest wait, but my niece insisted on it

ssydjen - did you do the parks in that order? Or did you do IoA first with Harry Potter, etc?

Thanks.

we did Universal first got there at 9 when it opened and at IoA by 1. was there till they closed at 8.

We'll also be doing a one day, two park hopper visit on Oct 9, (or some other day during the week of Oct 7-13). Our vacation pack included only one day at Universal and 5 at DW parks.

I think I read in the Unofficial Guide to DW that Saturday's are actually the best day to go, so we planned on going there on that Saturday. Does this sound right? We're not locked into a set schedule or anything.

Or are weekdays better? I think Universal is open an extra hour on Saturday - is that true?
