One day solo at WDW - worth it?

I love going solo! I am opposite of you in that I mostly go solo as my DH doesn't have as much time off as I do, and isn't the Disney addict I am. So when I go with friends or family it is a treat.

But solo is fabulous. Walk as fast or as slow as you want, skip rides, eat when and where you like. Spend 45 minutes looking for the perfect t shirt, or linger over that Grand Marnier slushie at the France pavilion. It is YOUR time.

And with Facebook, Instagram, texting etc, you can still share special moments with your family and friends.

I would definitely do it! On our last trip the rest of my family was tired and didn't want to go back to the park for Wishes. I was fine with it and told them I would go alone. They wouldn't let me. They thought I would be upset and lonely. I was actually looking forward to an evening to tour alone. Maybe one day....

I would think it would be a lot of fun, just a little different. The plus side is that you could make your own schedule, eat when and where you wanted and ride only the rides you enjoy most.

I did a solo trip once and I found it to be really depressing being there without my family. Especially at Magic Kingdom. No one else seems to have this problem but I thought I would mention it anyway.

It would be tough for me to be there alone without the rest of my family. It's just so synonymous with our family vacations...

YES!
I travel to Florida for training or conferences a couple of times a year some years and I always manage at least a day at WDW, sometimes even more.
Next week I have a conference on the west coast of FL, but will arrive a day early and spend some time at the World and after the conference ends I have a two night stay on property, all solo since DH does not get enough time off to go with me on all my trips

Yes! I have always gone with my husband and kids. Well, my husband had an interview at Disney last month and I decided to tag along. My kids couldn't go on the trip because they were in school, and my husband was in interviews all day long so I spent all day in the MK by myself. I went where I wanted, when I wanted. It was so much fun! I would definitely do it again, and I probably will since he got the job!

I was worried the 1st time I took a solo trip, but it was awesome and not awkward at all. Go for it

I have a conference to attend in south Florida. Because of a variety of factors, it appears it'll be easier & cheaper for me to fly to MCO and drive to the conference. The cheapest airfare will leave me one extra day after the conference. I'm considering taking my extra day & going to Disney World. Unfortunately my family can't join me on the trip, so it'd be a solo visit. I'm not sure how enjoyable it'd be since I've only ever been to WDW with family or friends.

Of course this is a very anecdotal/individual sort of question, but I'm interested in hearing from people who are used to going to WDW with family/friends who took a quick solo trip. Was it fun? Was it strange or sad touring a park without your family/friends? Was it weird doing rides solo?

I'm normally totally comfortable with solo business travel, dining alone, etc. but I'm wondering if being at WDW alone will just make me feel a little sad that I'm not sharing the experience with family.

I'm going alone in like a week for three days...because I'm currently single and none of my friends can afford to go on a last minute trip. I've done this before once for a whole week and had a BLAST! So, I'm doing it again and I'm super excited! Talk to cast members or other people in line. Most people are in a good mood at Disney :thumbsup2

OP, it sounds like you're pretty comfortable doing things on your own, so I think you'll really enjoy yourself! Some folks don't enjoy solo activities (or feel self-conscious even eating in a restaurant alone) but I bet you'll like it.

Doing a one-day solo trip is a great way to try it out. I bet you'll be a convert and will want to do a longer solo venture next time!

I get sad and weepy if I have to go on a ride by myself, but I would never skip a day at Disney just because I was alone. Go!

Well, now it appears the Seven Dwarves Mine Train will be open when I go, so now I have even more incentive to go!
