Someone posted this on the budget board, and I just logged onto AirTran to check it out. There is a one-day airfare sale today (Oct. 14) to 6 different cities in Florida, including Orlando. Flight must happen before Feb. 2, can't happen on Fridays or Sundays, and obvious holiday days are blacked out. Flights are between $39 and $89 (?) each way.

Would I ever love to squeeze in an extra trip!! I plugged in a few dates just for fun, but had to let my common sense take over and tell me to forget it. :( It's easy to think about the APs I already have, plus very low airfare. But I can't justify the other costs I'd have to absorb, plus additional days away from work. Bummer!

Oh well, I hope someone out there can take advantage of this sale. I'll wait for my Feb. trip to roll around, and hopefully the weeks will go quickly! :D

I hear you!

I got the email and went to airtran.com to check it out. I am going in June, so I have to hold off for now.

MINNEAPOLIS flights to MCO are 176.70, all fees included. This is a great price from MSP, if you can get your dates to work. I hope they run a deal like this for next June. THey offer a non stop flight each way. They also offer connecting flights through Atlanta that leave early in the morning. They cost is slightly higher (about $10) due to the landing/take off fees.

I hope someone gets a good deal. I have heard a lot of good things about airtran....

Actually I don't see how this is much of a sale. For our dates past Feb. 2nd most flight times are $79.00 on way anyway. These are non-connecting flights out of Philly that I'm looking at. The exception is there is one mid-morning flight for $99.00 but the rest are $79.00 anyway.

I am sooooo excited!!!! We are going to FL on 10/30 and coming home on 11/6. I have been searching for airfare since july and my DH and I figured we would have to drive down -- YUCK. With the stop overs it will take us 7 1/2 hours to fly to Orlando versus 18-20 hours to drive with 2 small kids. I was literally hyperventilating when I called DH at work to get the "go ahead".

I guess it's all a matter of perspective and what airport you're departing from. It IS a good deal for flights out of Flint, which is what i was checking. Fares have been terribly high this year.

I'm so glad it worked out for you!! Have a wonderful trip! :sunny:

We just flew Airtran out of Flint direct to Orlando for $123.00 round trip. I got these tickets back around July thru Travelocity, but I'm sure they'll come back down eventually.

We loved flying out of Flint! Such a nice airport and so much easier to navigate than Metro!

I saw the email from Air Tran yesterday, too. We already had our flights from Minneapolis to Orlando in January, but the fare had dropped $10 each way. I called customer relations and they refunded the difference. Saved $40 total.

That's great! $40 is a good chunk of change. It would be nice if all the airlines were so accommodating about refunding the difference. ::yes::
