Hi all. It's been 10 years, but young Hound (formerly known as Padewan Alec) will be visiting on DL on Thursday (or Friday). He's 19, will be with a another 19 y/o buddy, & will want to ride the first 2-3 hours hard.

- DL only (no DCA)
- Will buy maxpass. Will want to utilize FP (obviously) and Single Rider.
- Will NOT have MM available. But will be first in line at Security and or turnstile.

Here's a trip report from 10 years ago to let you know how he can roll. (he's college athlete & will likely be soon joining the Navy).

If on Friday, obviously it will be FL first.

- PP/Toady/Alice/Matterhorn?/(maybe Pinochio/SW-or maybe later)/ Buzz? SM? (or FP?) Star Tours?
- When they head to the left side of the Park, what would be the optimal order (BTMRR, Indy, HM, Splash)

- They'll want to pick up Canoes, Jungle Cruise, Roger Rabbit, Tea Cups, & maybe the Train (& Pinochio/SW & IAWS) at some point (maybe afternoon).

Won't be doing Dumbo, Nemo etc.

But if they don't do as a say and go on THURSDAY instead. But would be the best thought? MM would be operating and they would lose their level advantage in FL. How would YOU guys plan DL if this event??

Thanks in advance for the advice.

Hound. :)

(Hi HG - if you still are reading these. :))

Also, please provide the best Counter Service items for these guys. Knackwursts, Corny Dogs, Is Pooh Corner still open?

& don't forget to be specific on when they should utilize Single Rider. Thanks.

O.M.G. Hound is back form the world beyond! Welcome back!

I think if they do Thursday, they might have to just skip FL. Or go there first and catch a couple rides like Tea Cups or something before moving on. They may need to wait 20-30 minutes by that point. Make sure they know MaxPass inside and out and that will help.

Of course tell them Friday will be better!

Hydroguy....thanks for the quick response ! It was great getting your many tips thru the years & Alec & I did 3-4 (one-two day commando trips) using your info (from 08-11).

Yes, I figured that a Thursday visit would be less productive (starting an hour late and an hour behind in FL). & will let them know that they'd be basically needing to squeeze what little productivity on that day out of Maxpass & their wits.

So I've recommended (insisted) that they do Friday. So FL is set:

- PP/Toady/Alice/(maybe teacups)/Matterhorn/Buzz/SM (FP or Single?)

Hi Lucky Rabbit !! Thanks for the info on jhaig's post. Yes, I had been following it and shadowing his thoughts and responses to his thoughts !!

Based on this, I've come up with a 9am - 11:00 plan for the guys (& realize that plans change & plan Bs are necessary):

- Star Tours. (FP or stand by?)
- BTMRR (FP or stand by)
- Indy (FP or Single Rider)
- (Pirates is down for refurb :()
- HM (FP or stand by)
- Splash (FP or Single Rider)

Thoughts on the order during this 2 hours (on on Single Rider for any of these?)

& they'll fill in and add in the Canoes, Jungle Cruise, Roger Rabbit (& Pinocchio & SW)....& other rides after lunch. Thanks Guys !!

Best corn dogs in DL: we prefer Little Red Wagon on Main Street (corn dogs come with chips, but you can order them without). If the guys want fries instead, go to Stage Door Cafe. We think the corn dogs there are a little greasier, but they do come with fries. Other hot dogs with various toppings at Refreshment Corner (aka Coke Corner). I think Bratwurst are found at Troubadour Tavern by the FL Theater. Pooh Corner is still open -- Tigger Tails! There are various new treats available for Pixar Fest, so have the guys keep their eyes open for these. Also, DLR is rolling out mobile ordering for varous food venues. There is a thread on this forum with info and dates for each venue. If the guys don't need to custom order anything, they might like using mobile ordering. Bengal BBQ is supposed to start the mobile service on the 17th, so that might be fun for them to try.

If they start with MP right away none of the above should be an issue. I do not think they will need to use single rider but they should keep that in reserve. Matterhorn now has SR but I have found it to NOT be a time saver. I think the SR lines they may want to use later in the day when the FPs are gone and they want a second ride on Indy or Splash. :thumbsup2

You may be out of the loop, but Disney has succumbed to PC and POTC is down for refurb to remove the "Buy a Bride" scene. :sad1: We wants the redhead! pirate:

I have been suggesting they keep going with the PC approach and change Haunted Mansion because we cannot be celebrating women who murder their husbands can we? Five of them no less!

BTMRR often does not need FP and queues will be 15-20 minutes except for mid-day on a busy day where they may go to 30-40 minutes. Save Splash FP for when it is hot out (after 11AM?). So I would suggest they do BTMRR in the standby line sometime within the first 2-3 hours after park opening.

I assume you have well coached them that being there early for rope drop means your feet and body standing at the park turnstile in line? Not pulling into the parking garage? The 30-40 minute rule still applies for RD but depends on park hours that day. For 8AM it works. For 10AM maybe not so much.

:wizard:

Tell them that MP begins working as soon as they go through the turnstiles, so have that app downloaded, the credit card on file, and the tickets already scanned in and ready to go! As soon as the CM scans their tickets, they can purchase MP (should only take a minute) and look for their first FP. If they are waiting at the rope, the return time won't be good until official park opening, but they can go ahead and grab one anyway.

Hound! You ol' hound! Young Padewan Alec is 19? How did that happen? Of course, it's been 10 years since my mom/daughter trip with oldest DD, and she's now 23, 2 years graduated and employed, and married!

I've done a couple of short trips since then, one solo and one with DH 2 years ago. Heading back with the youngest, DD 16, and her (gulp) marching band group to a festival on Memorial Day weekend. I'm a chaperone, lord help me. The silly organizers gave the group one full day with parkhoppers (Sunday) and a couple of hours Saturday night, and I get the feeling they have no idea what's involved. I kind of feel like it's pointless to do much planning. I'm going to get MaxPass for my group of kids and just kind of do the best I can-- like herding cats. Thankfully they're all awesome kids, if a bit high spirited. Just gotta go with the flow.

Wait, what? PoTC is down for refurb? Oh, that's a tragedy.:worried:
Nice to see you on here again!
