The background information: My husband and I are gong to WDW April 21-27th. We are staying at CBR and already have magic bands ordered. We found out that my husband's company is sending him to Orlando on a business trip April 6-8th. Since he is going to be so close he wants to visit DHS on Saturday before flying out since I don't really want to go to DHS. It will free up another park day for us on our vacation. He will be off-site since the company is arranging the hotel.

The real question: can he buy a 1 day pass online and link it to his magic band (assuming we have them before he leaves) without messing up any of our days? My worry would be that somehow out vacation 3-day passes would get activated and it would mess everything up. Would he be better off to just use the card they will send or even buy on-site?

Your 3-day passes won't "activate" until you go through the turnstile, but to be safe I'd just use the hard ticket for the 1 day admission.

You can link it to your MDE and then it will work with the magic band. He will have to do that if he wants to make advance fast passes. So, you have two options. BEFORE entering the park, stop at Guest Services and have them PRIORITIZE the 1-day ticket so it will be used first. They can do this. I was told recently that if I had multiple tickets, the first scan, they will ask me which ones to activate at the gate, but I am not sure I trust that.

If you want to be extra careful, buy a 1-day ticket and link it to your MDE on a DUMMY NAME. This way you can make FP+ selections for that name on that ticket but not risk using the other ticket. You will not be able to use your Magic Band for this, and instead will use the card media provided (which you may have to pick up at guest services if you order online - but you can link the confirmation number to MDE).

If you have booked a package for CBR, there is no way the system can access your 3-day tickets as @holden stated.

You can link his one-day ticket and he can book his FPs for that DHS day. He doesn't need to prioritize anything if you have a package booked.

I would link 1 day tkt to MDE with correct name. Make fp+, use hard ticket to get into park. Double check at Guest Relations the correct ticket was used.(Last part may not be needed, but I'm a A type person!)

The hard ticket links to the same MDE Profile line and to whatever entitlements are linked to that line.

So, as long as a package is booked, the 3-day tickets can't be used because they are inactive.

What BrianL said about having guest services prioritize your tickets works. We have done this several times with old tickets we wanted to use before our current tickets and at other times when we wanted to save old tickets if we were using an annual pass. Never had a problem, but be sure it's done before entering the park.
