One day park prices going up tomorrow

Someone will correct me if I'm wrong, but yes, I do believe you would use the ticket first and then upgrade.

I could be wrong but I believe they no longer bridge tickets bought through Disney with the exception of the Disney Store. They would bridge through UT and stuff but I think they don't bridge tickets bought through Disney.

Unless..... those bought through a package are different.

Hmmmm.

Wow, ballsy with all of the issues going on right now. I don't see this being a good thing for them but only time will tell.

Especially now they are doing wauy too many at once with recovering the losses they made from other venues.

I still intent to take my sister in April for a day at The MK then there's the matter of renewing my AP card in April. Before that I'm making reservations for my birthday vacation at a Value Resort in the fall.

They never make price changes retroactive. In fact, many of the wholesalers can sell the tickets they have for the old price until they run out.

And UT is doing just that! I just contacted everyone in my party -oops forgot to call the Mother in law, that was seriously an oversight, omg- anyway... I called them and told them to buy tix right now via mousesavers link to UT. I ended up saving $133& change for my fam of 4 over what WDW is chArging on their site...

Yes, the goal is to make money in any business. However, I wonder how Walt would have felt about Disney pricing out the average family. I doubt he would have seen it the same way as those in charge now. Disney is quickly turning into a place only the upper class can visit regularly and everyone else once in a life time or never. Not exactly the vision Walt had.

Exactly... He wasn't "that guy". Upon reading his interviews etc, he was such a kind humble man that I think he would keep much the same but not at the expense of the "guests". He was willing to sacrifice financial gain for the happiness of his "guests" and even employees. I also think he never wpuld have guessed the popularity of his empire. So it's hard to say... But I do think he'd be saddened that the circumstances are pricing out certain families. That IS sad. I know ppl who want to tke their kids that just can't ford even a short trip no matter how they try to save. It is sad and makes me wnt to hide my trips/excitement so I don't upset them. It's most sad for the kids bc I know their kids would LOVE the experience...

I'm not so sure. While I agree that the price increases have been out of pace with the rest of the economy, I think Walt would have been more concerned with the quality of the offerings in the park than what the tickets cost. From the interviews I've seen, he seemed to be almost obsessed with providing the best product possible - a point of view which the current management could take some cues from. I think he would have been adding more value to the parks, instead of removing so many of the special entertainment opportunities we've seen dropped recently. I don't think he would have had an issue with a price increase if he felt the product was worth it.

And I think that's what everyone has had an issue with - the product hasn't been maintained and improved enough to justify the increase. I haven't seen too many arguments that the WDW experience is so great that $100 is a real bargain. But I've seen plenty deriding the increase when so many things are being removed.

I think that you're fine unless you make changes. For example, if you cancel the package to rebook at a special discount (e.g. an AP that's not available at your existing resort/room category), I think the ticket prices in your new package reflect the new prices. Not sure about simply adding an available discount to your existing room/category or adding free dining.

If you call to add a discount to your package they sure will tack on the higher ticket price. They did it to me last year. :sad2:

First, this made me laugh. And second, nice savings!

Now you are going to have to buy your Mother in Law some flowers. :)

Disney raising the prices a few $ each time is like a frog in the pot that doesn't know it is being cooked. We keep paying the new price because it really is just a few more $ than before the price increase. Let's face it, a trip to Disney isn't cheap for many reasons, not just the tickets.

Disney is not worried about losing guests over this. In fact, there are people willing to book a room or campsite just to use FP+ in advance of their arrival. As long as there are people willing to do that and pay whatever the ticket prices, they will continue to go up.

I keep thinking with all the changes and price increases, the parks will be less crowded, but the are more crowded than ever. I would not be surprised to see another increase later this year before the holidays.

Foreigners make up for a lot of the crowds. They get great deals, and their currency is worth more than ours.

I don't like this, but it makes sense to me. The parks are packed almost year-round. Why wouldn't they raise the prices? Now their hotels...not so packed, that's why you see all of the discounts there.

Yikes. We are really getting close to being priced out of a Disney vacation.

It's all about the tipping point. The tipping point for gasoline was $4/gal. a couple of years ago. When it hit that price, Americans started driving less and profits suffered. Gas prices eventually went down and people are back to driving more. The same will be true with Disney. There will be a tipping point where people will decide that it has gotten to be too expensive for what they get in return. Until then, Disney can continue to raise their ticket prices and resort room rates.
yup
for me its past the tipping point.
family of 6 and value resorts are not worth it. Disney will not guarantee connecting rooms at resorts we do feel are worth it.
fp+ sucks and was a complete waste of our time
higher tic prices without anything of value added, in fact value taken away in fp+ vs fp imo

Anybody remember the lawyer from Jurassic Park? How after seeing the dinosaurs he wanted to charge upwards of $10,000 a day for admission, maybe having a "coupon day" for the not-super-rich?

That was the setup to make the crowds cheer when the T-Rex ate him!
