My inlaws will be going to DLP for the day....just one day with their two girls, 11 and 13. What are your best ideas for a one day touring plan? What are the definate must do's and don't waste your time on things? They go to Disney World at least two times a year.....thanks in advance for your help in this. Oh and FYI, they will be going over spring break. I think the travel agent told them Wednesdays is not a good day to go due to crowds. So I think they will be there on Thursday.

Hi i recently went for one day and its impossible to fit everything in.
I would recommend watching the Once Upon A Dream Parade though :)

I also went on a Wednesday and the crowds were not that bad.

If they have only one day I would recommend only trying to do one park- I would choose the Disneyland park but there are some good new rides in teh studios.

Some rides may seem the same as WDW but they're not- BTM is far superior as its set on an island so you immediately go underground on the ride. Ive never done Space mountain but again I understand its different..

Dont miss the dragon under the castle and the fact you can go upstairs in the castle again unique to DLP

we have previously had 2 day trips

we decided in advance what rides our sons would definitely like to do ,and headed for those ( buzz,POTC,peter pan ,cars etc)

we didnt get to see many characters the first time round,we concentrated on the rides !

but 2nd time we went into the studios and saw a few ,also the HSM parade

as we were short on time,we booked a character meal @ cafe Mickey

so we could eat and see the characters ( and give our poor legs / feet a rest!) at the same time :)

oh and also each time we have watched the Lion King show as I love it :goodvibes :lovestruc

If they have only one day then I would definitely recommend sticking to just one park - either Disneyland or the Studios. Have a look at the rides on offer in both parks and decide which would appeal to your family the most. Most people only trying one park on a first trip do go to the Disneyland park though. As to which rides they shouldn't miss this will be down to their own preferences.

Thanks for all the great advice! Who knew there were two parks?:confused3 I guess I need to keep up with things a little better. I sooooo want to take a trip across the pond, but DH isn't really too keen on that idea! Who knows...maybe someday I can get to see that great Broadway show in Lonon and get to Paris.....ah yes, a girl can dream!!! Oh yeah, and you guys have the BEST chocolate ever!!!!!!!!

Hi lizdotcom99 and welcome to DLP DIS board :wave2:
We are a friendly bunch here so please join in on any other thread or if you have a number of questions then just start a new thread for each :goodvibes

If you have not had a look yet, DLP posting rules are here, DIS posting guidelines can be found here.

Have a look at the trip report sticky at the top of the board as you'll see 1 day trip reports :)

Hi -

I'm assuming that as they're only there for one day they will be willing to go for it. I tend to disagree with some other posters in that the beauty of DLRP is that as the two parks are next to each other you can see both in a day.

First off I'd check opening hours here:

http://news.disneylandparis.co.uk/calendar/index.xhtml?

Most Thursdays in March April both parks open at 10 and close at 7 or 8

I'd start at the studios, and do some of things that aren't at WDW, e.g. cinemagique, crush's coaster, stitch live (if its open) and maybe a couple to compare the difference with WDW eg ToT, moteurs stunt show (RnR is basically identical to WDW)

I'd head over to Disneyland Park for lunch, and book in advance at Walts in main street as you'll get a great lunch and there's nothing like this at WDW.

There's info here on booking restaurants in advance

http://www.dlrpmagic.com/guides/practical/diningguide/

As some others have said I'd give a few of the rides that look the same as WDW a go as in some cases they're better than the WDW versions, eg BTM, PoC, Phantom manor, Small World, Space Mountain, Buzz and also make sure you see the parade and walk underneath the castle.

If you want to stay for supper I'd book the character buffet at Inventions in the Disneyland Hotel for after the parks close. If they're staying in Paris the DLH is right by the train station gto take you back.

Hope they have fun. The trick is to remember its not WDW, many rides are actually better, but the scale isn't quite the same so you need to appreciate it in its own right rather than keep comparing the two. On balance we actually prefer DLP but obviously you don't get quite the same weather and there's no Epcot, AK or water parks

Andy
