Doing one day on 8/21 which is a slow 3/10 day and might do opening to closing (and mid day nap)

I’ve always used to a yearly trip with large groups of 12+ friends and easily organize/plan blindfolded (I enjoy this in case you’re wondering). This time around it’ll be me and the bf who hasn’t been in years, will just tag along and isn’t a hardcore fan. Given the added freedom, should I do just DL or park hop with genie+ cushion?

I've never done a 1 day trip and it's interesting to think about. I think I would need to park hop as there are a few rides in CA I would be really sad to miss!

I think it depends on if there are rides in DCA that you don’t want to miss. We rarely do park hoppers, but I would for a 1-day trip because I wouldn’t want to miss Soarin’, RRSR and TSMM!

I agree. There are rides but I don’t want to drag the bf and make him suffer too much 😜

park hopping from logistics is easy for DLR -- literally takes 3minutes to transit between two parks at leisure pace while enjoying the mix track.

if hopping costs isn't prohibitive. Would I give up ILL$ and go standby to RotR for hopping? yep.

My usual is rope drop rotr, then between fantasyland/mickey railway depending on the wait times, genie+ for Indiana/space or cars/guardians/spiderman with hope they break down in the morning so I can get multi-passes to save for late afternoon/night.

When I first went to Disneyland I was in a friend group and we only did a one day hop hopper. I didnt like it, as I felt it was too rushed and stressful, having such a limited time and going between the two parks.

If I could only do one day I would choose just the main park only.

I always hop, though I've never done a one day trip. I like that flexibility in case something is not going well at the one park I might have intended to spend most of my day in. I think all the shutdowns in DL will be back open, though, at least (except Tiana). The ticket person I spoke to on the phone (I was debating between 1-park and hoppers for our OBB trip since we will have really 3 half days, but at only $70 more for all 3 days which seems to be a bargain I went with hoppers) said you can add hopper at the ticket booth day of (like if we wanted to hop only our last day), so unless it's more expensive to do that st the park, you could buy the one park ticket and add the hopper at the park only if things were not going well in DL, assuming the ticket lines aren't too long.

I'm not sure there are any days that truly rate 3/10 any more.
Crowd prediction calendars are not what they use to be.

August 21st is a Wednesday. Hours for DL are 8am to 11pm and DCA is 8am to 9pm.
From what I have been hearing Wednesday's have turned into a busy day. Even busier than Mondays.

If budget allows go with a hopper and Genie+ to max out your options.

Make sure your bf is wearing comfy shoes and have fun!!

Thanks. Pretty much it was only one day or bust. I was also willing to go solo into the parks without a second thought. But it’s his first time to many things in LA so it wouldn’t look good if I ditched him.
