Do we go for it??

We will be traveling to LV by car to visit family - was thinking we could do a tiny little detour to get a Disney-fix :lovestruc but I am wondering if a ONE day trip to Disneyland is really worth it.... and I ONLY say that as we were there recently for 5 days, so I am worried a one day trip would be kinda stressful for the kids :confused3

Also, our eldest DD would not be with us (visiting her bio-father) - would she be seriously annoyed with us for taking the littler kids for a day.... ugggghhh not sure it's worth is.... but we would be SO CLOSE!!! :headache:

What to do? What to do? :confused3

So close but yet so far.

A. You can see DLR in it's natural state instead of special overlay, since you went for Halloween I believe.
B. Will you get enough time there since it will take about 4 hours from LV door to the DL gates and back again plus a stop for gas and maybe restrooms?
C. What day, Spring Break crazy?
D. During your previous visit was there a lot you missed that you wanted to do?

A. That would be great! And Pirates would be open!!
B. That's the thing I am worried about - time. I know we could leave super early and have a nearly full day, and of course CRASH at the end of the evening, but would that stress out the kids too much - DH and I could do it, but a 5yr old and a 1 1/2 yr old??
C. Didn't think of that - would be the first week of April sometime.
D. Missed a few rides due to closures, but nothing major - just thought it would be fun ;)

Hummmmm
You are right....so close, yet so far :confused3

A. Also Carsland may be open, it's possible but not close to a sure thing. the work there is progressing well and all three rides have been undergoing testing.
B. Kids would probably mostly sleep in the car, especially on the way back. You might try staying at a hotel in Victorville, Barstow or Baker if driving there and back plus the park is too much. I did this early last Summer it worked ok, not great but ok.
C. Did you go to on a Halloween Party night and were in DL at 6pm? Expect the same crowds because first couple weeks of April will be slammed. This will make being there early and late a bigger priority.
D. There will be less construction in DCA and more in DL. But most attractions should be open for the peak crowd period of Spring Break. Matterhorn is rumored to be down, Jan to June, but I have my doubts it would be down past Spring Break.

Sadly, I don't think I would do it, unless I was planning on getting a nearby hotel, at least for one night...With a crazy early start and a hotel that night, it might be do-able. I would be scared to get up at 3 am, drive, do 14 hours at Disney and then drive another 4. It seems like you're asking to fall asleep driving.

Another thought for Vegas might be the Adventuredome at Circus Circus - I'm sure your 5-yr-old would enjoy it, at least for a few hours...

Yep! I agree - am thinking staying one night in a hotel might not seem so bad (cost-wise).

I say go for it. Like I always say, better one Disney day, than no day. But please do stay somewhere near by overnight, so you will not be driving back in a tired state.

Have fun!

You could probably find something decent and cheap if you do a priceline type deal for Anaheim. If you leave anaheim that conmbination may get hard to find.

I'd suggest the Ayres Hotel which is highly rated, but in an odd spot. It does happen to be next to CA-57 on Katellla, which is what you would be taking anyway.
