One day at Tokyo Disney Resort

We will be in Tokyo for 5 days this June. We have decided to spend 1 day at TDR. Originally I was planning to spend the day at DisneySea... however I have recently learned that Journey to the Center of the Earth and Toy Story Midway Mania will both be undergoing refurbishment while we are there. We were planning to skip Toy Story but I’m wondering what the effect of having 2 tier one attractions closed will have on TDS. Will the parks be uncrowded as locals decide not to go with 2 major attractions closed or will the parks be packed with everyone trying to ride the remaining rides? Should we just go to TDL? We have been to WDW too many times to count and to DLR 3 times in the past 4 years. Opinions?

Even with the closures you should still go to Disneysea. The park is flat out amazing. TDL is very similar to WDW MK. Indiana Jones and Tower of Terror alone are worth it (much better versions) - I am assuming you have never been to TDR.

Locals will flock to DisneySea no matter what’s closed. JTCOE is great by TSMM is exactly the same as the US parks. Plan to get there before park opening and start with Tower of Terror, then Nemo SeaRider. It is in my opinion the best Disney park and it’s worth seeing just for the elaborate theming!

Tokyo DisneySea! I recently spent 3 days at the resort, with 1 day at TDL and 2 days at DisneySea. I had an awesome day at TDL, but as already noted, it is very similar to DL and Magic Kingdom at WDW. DisneySea is simply amazing. You could walk around for a day...or even longer...just absorbing all of the theming even if you didn't experience any attractions.
